Carrier is building a plant in Mexico and Americans are paying for it.
Not exactly like his campaign promises, is it?

The laffner curve is a joke. Nuff said.
Only to Repubtards. The truth hurts--Laffer Curve holds well across the world for more than 40 years. Eat it Repubtard.

Trumpies... this is only the first of "the good deals" that your scamster President will do for you. Suckers.
Perhaps they should ask workers at Goldman Sachs, JP Morgan Chase, Bank of America, Wells Fargo, Citibank, Morgan Stanley, HSBC, AIG....
And 600 Carrier jobs are still moving to Mexico.
800 stayed through extortion efforts.
Great point, rojo. My politics do not align with yours, but this is a very important set of comparisons
Public subsidies for corporations is so ingrained in the Indiana economy that you wouldn't even think about it as native of Indiana. It would be like wondering if it is healthy that the air we breathe is made up of 78% nitrogen. It just is.

TRUMPTRUMPTRUMPTRUMPTRUMPTRUMP!!!!!! We are going to start winning so bigly from now on we're all going to forget what losing was like!
Trump is PROVING that pure free market capitalism without ANY direct government intervention is in the best interest of AMERICAN workers and our economy through his actions. We are seeing the oft spouted GOP economic logic of decreased government meddling in buisness in action.

Absolutely it would. But then again, I would never go on public assistance of ANY kind. And it would creep me out that some politicians were ultimately "keeping me."
You think you've never received public assistance?

Nope. The losers at carrier only bought themselves a year. Watch and kearn kids.

Yes. What Trump did was wrong. We need to change the corporate tax rate (for everyone) and close loopholes that encourage off-shoring of jobs, not do one-off deals like this. Trump's actions are a textbook example of crony capitalism. Not a smart move.
To be honest though, a true free market system would essentially doom the job prospects of many, many Trump supporters. There is no way to reconcile how much an American worker would need to make versus keeping US consumer prices at a level that those same workers would need to make everything workout economically.

Rojo! You need to oust these moderators. They've always been churlish, and now they're turning insubordinate...
I'll volunteer to replace one of them. Gotta lot of time on my hands right now.
Fair point Rojo, but it's important to note that these tax reliefs have been on the state and municipal levels. It's rather unprecedented for the Federal government to intervene like Trump just did to prevent outsourcing, as it goes against the spirit of America's free trade commitments. From an economic perspective, it's unadvised give the tax break (amounting to a subsidy) just to Carrier, although an economy-wide reduction in corporate taxes would be great...
They are union workers and you need to ask if they care that their jobs are subsidized?
Well, the Laffer Curve is indeed very valid. But you're missing what the curve actually is.
The Laffer Curve is the idea that there is an optimal tax rate at which government revenue is maximized. Back in the 1970s, Arthur Laffer asserted that the tax rate was so high, that economic activity was being hindered. He argued that any tax cuts would promote economic activity so much to actually increase government tax revenue.
Today, there is a lot of evidence to suggest that we are far below the optimal point of the laffer curve -- that is, we can increase taxes quite a bit, without hindering economic activity enough to cause a fall in government revenue. But don't take this as a policy prescription for higher taxes. There's a lot more to consider than just government revenue when determining optimal tax rate (is the economy in need of fiscal stimulus or austerity, what types of economic activity should we make costly, what types of taxes are conceived as 'fair' and thus politically feasible, etc.)
