I don't think he's a troll and believe his motivations are honest, but gotta say: how do you coach track—sprints at that—for 15 years and be this lacking on hurdles? I've coached sprints and always we group them with hurdles and relays. Being lacking on jumps, I can totally see that though if his school has up to now had a jumps coach.
I coached football players in the 40 yard dash for the NFL combine. I also coached high school sprinters over 10 years ago, but we had another (incredible) coach that coached technical stuff like hurdles, triple jump, and even pole vault. I picked up a little, but like I said, it has been over a decade. (I will say, though, that after watching a lot of video over the past 30ish hours, a LITTLE bit of it sounds familiar.)
To the above point: From what I can tell, sprinting has more in common with Long Jump than Hurdles, huh? Those 3 (hopefully) steps btwn hurdles are more like bounding than sprinting, right? PS- our school is the opposite: we have a ton of kids who think "jumping into the sand looks like fun", but who are terrified of hurdles :-)
To the person who accused me of being a troll: 1. My handle is "New Events", not "Newbie Coach", and 2. Not sure what my motivation would be to troll on a topic like this, when I could just ask about flag burning or the electoral college :-)
Sincere thanks to everyone for all of the help so far.
