After switching allegiance to Greece over the summer she appears to be back to being a USA runner. Wonder if we'll see her out making money as a "USA" citizen now that it's not an Olympic year and there is no benefit representing Greece until 2020?
Maybe Donald Trump will put a top to this switching nationalities for convenience.

David "Peruvian" Torrence is also doomed. -
Pappas has what is known as Olympic citizenship. It only gets activated for global Championships.

This is outrageous and very creative behavior by Ms. Pappas.
Has a protest been filed at the Turkey trot and USATF for this egregious violation of U.S.A. Track and Field immigration and road racing laws?
Lock her up! -
Dual citizenship.
Like having dual gas tanks on the ford F450.
You can use either one. -
Are you kidding me?!
This is disgusting. She took USA only prize money as well! She's stealing prize money from other Americans that aren't ship-jumpers. This should absolutely not be allowed. You should absolutely only be allowed to run for 1 country and not switch when it's convenient. -

Should she donate half to the Greek federation? I hear they are kind of broke.
-
if this is true, it's complete and utter bullsh**. I honestly don't really care about the whole "jumping ship" thing, but there are considerations to making that decision. One of them is that you are, from date of decision forward, tied to that allegiance. Can't just decide to swap back to snag some cash. doesn't work that way, either you're greek or you're not. She ran in the games, thus she's "greek," for prize money purposes. period.

I hope you're as outraged at illegal immigrants receiving welfare benefits paid for by us taxes, or a current president campaigning for the next president on the taxpayer's dollar. -
I thought she was from Frisco and can run for Turkey or Greece because of her parents and grandparents. Nick Scarvelous of UCLA was recruited by Turkey for the Rio 2016 team and he can't even speak his grandparent's language.

Disgusting indeed. She deserves to be booed wherever she goes. -
Is running warfare now?
If a person does not have a strong national affiliation, does that mean that s/he cannot compete in a running event?
Aren't there a lot of people with dual citizenship in this country?
Isn't US turning a blind eye to some of its citizens performing military service for their other country?
But not all other countries are the same, are they?
Got it. -
Haha, little brains with thoughts of NATIONAL IDENTITY above all else. What a small, antique worldview.
Dual citizen, end of story.
I'm impressed with what Pappas has made of herself, hope she keeps kicking ass. -

What is impressive about having dual citizenship to a country you have never visited? -
I can almost 100% guarantee this is a mistake by the race organizers, and not Pappas "abusing the system." Don't get your panties all in a bunch.

Yes but where's the fun in that? -
PLACP, that's the point
Get politics out of sports and you will see drugs out get out of sports too.
I want my kids and their kids to have an opportunity to run. I do not want to hear that they "run" for this coach of for this country.
Running is for the SELF. It is the last bastion of freedom.
No, I do not want to wrap myself in a flag or to put my hand over my heart. I do not want to hear an anthem or see a flag. I want to be able to cuss out or chest bump my rival. I do NOT want to give anyone the evil eye emulating phelps.
I want to be able to run free. I want to be able to rejoice my competitor: my success is in a large measure due to him or her being so very, very awesome. I want that for my kids.
Why is that so hard to get?
Sadly, you never will ... -

Turks should be able to run for whomever on Turkey Day, agreed? -
An entire page of posts and nobody yet has pointed out that:
- citizenship and athletic affiliation are not the same thing
- the olympics requires you to run for the country of your athletic affiliation, regardless of whatever other countries you may belong to as a citizen (if any)
- many races give prizes to the first American, but they are referring only to citizenship, not to affiliation.
If you are upset by this ( I could understand how), your interest should be in changing the system.
