Of course he does. If our top people just paid attention to posters here they'd be marathoners in under 2 hours.

Lydiard was an anonymous yahoo.

Sarcasm? Otherwise this makes no sense.

That's correct, yes.

http://www.runnersworld.com/new-york-city-marathon/before-new-york-elites-dish-on-the-hardest-workouts-they-didI know it's in Runner's World so maybe something is lost in translation, but these key workouts sound like virtually all of them are training for a half-marathon, not an actual marathon.
Majority are doing 8-10 miles total around marathon pace or slightly faster and breaking that up into 2-3 intervals and adding in another 5-12 of much easier running. A few are doing 15-16 mile tempos. Ritz did about 15 at marathon pace. Neely Spence didn't give specifics.
For the most part is this how American's prepare for the marathon?
American elites are average as a whole in global marathon speed.
No american man will be in the top 100 times ran in 2016.
The so called american elites today were lucky to run in watered down event today and get top ten places with slow times on a fast day.
Your first sentence summed it up. Its in freaking runners world. The workouts the pros gave were designed for the hobby joggers who are runners worlds audience. Runners world doesn't want to print some intense interval workout. That will be lost in translation for the hobby joggers.

See, it doesn't work like that. It's relative to ability.
Do you think Snell challenged Lydiard to a race every time he doubted his training?
Big difference between Lydiard and Letsrun idiots.

Lydiard didn't have much of a chance to post here but I'm certain he would be considered a letsrun idiot as well just as many view Renato.
How does the training of top American marathoners today compare to top International marathoners? And how do the results compare?

Have the best athletes you coach race them then.
These workouts are pathetic.
I'm a 40-something an I do a 20-22 miler with 10-12 at marathon pace 3-4 times in a marathon buildup. I also do at least one run of 15+ miles at MP and faster, usually 18 with 12 MP, 6 faster (local 30k race).
This is alone at 7am, with no fluid or nutrition support, before taking the kids to the park.
No wonder these American elites can't compete.

He was an anonymous yahoo. All of the great coaches are, even the online message board variety.

Yes, Lydiard didn't believe the human body could run faster than 2:12

My athlete beat Ritz today.

Reading comprehension is not your strong suit though.

Yeah it is. For example I read your last posts as "I have no credibility because the athletes I coach are far worse than Lydiard's/top Americans." And I was right.

Oh, you definitely read it wrong then. "Relative to ability" was your stumbling block.

No, "relative to ability" is the tell that only hobbyjoggers go to you for coaching while highly capable athletes uncoincidientally go elsewhere

Wow you're so awesome Bro. You must be able to smoke these crappy elites.

I only coach myself. But I could make you faster than you are now.
Great interview with Steve Cram - says Jakob has no chance of WRs this year
I’m a D2 female runner. Our coach explicitly told us not to visit LetsRun forums.
