How do you know that? Do you know the guy?
Eddie H was making money as a masters runner.
I doubt that there's much money for 60 year olds.

When he ran 9:33 as a high school junior, there was unreal competition in the 1970s and so he didn't think it was that impressive and dropped running. But when he ran 9:33, he was smoking dope and not training much. So, he was a tremendous talent back then and so unsurprising that he has run so well at a time he could dedicate himself to it. I remember him beating me by a minute or more in an 8 miler almost a decade ago, so he's been doing this for a long time and I would not be surprised at all to see him go sub 2:40 the next time out, maybe even 2:36-37.
Hey fred.
Martin Rees ran a 50:43 10 mile at age 50. WOW.
He is still going strong at age 63 and is very consistent.

Watch out M65-69.
agreed.
Chicago doesn't want to pay for pacers, but maybe they could come up with some cash for Brian and Martin to race against each other.

Mr. Pilcher lives in a rich area of Marin County so he is extremely well off and it's not about the money. He has an ego. Does this mean he is doping? No it doesn't but I would not totally put it past him either. Is he an extraordinarily gifted runner? Absolutely. He is not loud about it but there is no denying that he is very self-centered and it rubs some people the wrong way.

I belong to the same running club as Brian. First of all, he does not need the non-existent money in the 60 age group. Second, he is very focused on his running, including having a coach. His coach is 2008 Olympian marathoner Madga Lewy-Boulet.
I don't know Brian in any way, but I do have something to say about money in relation to PEDs and masters athletes. PEDs cost money, I gather sometimes up to $1000/month, maybe more, especially if you are including the costs of medical supervision (by an "anti-aging" doc?).
There are two ways to justify this type of expense: A) you are at the professional level, and your winnings will at least offset your expenditures. This was the case with Eddy H, and with most younger drug cheats, who are too young to have accumulated enough disposable income for: B) You are financially "secure", i.e. wealthy, and you can justify the expense as minor in relation to your income or net worth. If PEDs are say, a few percentage points of your annual expenditures, that is much different than if you had to scrape together the cash for the "T" injections. Plus if the PEDs make you feel "younger" and more "vigorous", then that only is a bonus, right? We do know that 100s of thousands are taking testsoterone for "Low-T" diagnoses, even without the additional benefit of enhanced athletic performance.
For a wealthy, older athlete, PEDs are not just a means to bolster your ego with respect to your running resume', but a tangible way to add vigor to last few years or decades left on Earth.
Food for thought. A wealthy, high-performing athlete with disposable income and a lot of personal psychological investment (ego) is a red flag for PEDs in my book. I know of at least one red-flagger personally who has more than a few national championship medals, and who has actually beat Pilcher on an occasion or two. Whether Pilcher has chosen to "fight fire with fire" is for him to know and for us to only speculate.
You are the only person speculating with a red flag from your book. It is a very boring book that goes on forever with complete nonsense.
This ^^^^^ x 1000

She's a European who has been an a U.S. citizen for 15 years.
PR's
100 miles - 19:05:21 (Western States 100 2015)
Marathon - 2:26:22 (Rotterdam NED 2010)
Half Marathon - 1:11:46 (San Jose CA USA 2009)
10,000 metres - 31:48.58 (Eugene OR USA 2011)
5,000 metres - 15:14.25 (Stockholm SWE 2011)
How many miles a year does she run? And what was her mileage when she ran the 2:26?
Wiki:
"She was assistant track & field coach at University of California - Berkeley, working under Tony Sandoval through 2009-2010[13] school year.[14] She is married to Richie Boulet.
Lewy-Boulet is currently coached by Jack Daniels."
Sandoval mileage and Daniels periodization?
This is a classic meltdown of a thread.
"Masters runner sets record"
Things started slowly in this thread it and took a day and a half for the first negative post, good old Hrunner got the ball rolling, with a comment about the runner's ego. fred was neutral through the first day or two, but then got onto, well such and such was actually better at the same age, therefore the new records aren't worth much. Then come the drug accusations, more ego innuendo, more drug accusations. Socal tries in vain to smooth things over, only to get hammered down into lurkdom. Comparisons with EddyH, and now some stalling with a few questions about the coach of said masters runner.
Missing anything so far?
Actually the records are great. So kiss my yactoba.
Magda ( Competitor.com ):
"Threshold work is a constant. I do interval miles at threshold pace once a week. It helps me be able to hit certain paces and build my threshold. For my second focused training day each week, I choose between hill repeats for overall strength or head to the track for speed work at goal pace.
I’ve worked with my coach, Jack Daniels, for 10 years — he’s been instrumental in what I’ve been able to accomplish. He’s a big believer in treadmill hills and I am too. It removes the wear and tear of running downhill and helps me maintain strength, as well as speed, in a very controlled environment. I recommend them for my athletes too (Lewy Boulet coaches a few runners).
I’m smarter about my training since I turned 40 and am willing to drop my mileage so I don’t end up injured. I’m running 70-100 miles a week."
you know brian is running great when pd accusations are thrown round. The ultimate sign of a great performance. Congrats Brian keep up the hard work
maybe a classic meltdown but also part of the brillance of these message boards. people might have called the kip litton thread 'melted down' but it sure uncovered a lot of truth that was not known beforehand.maybe true here
