Proud of the guys on the team but seriously this team is a shell of what Schumacher left.

the number of footlocker finalists. 4:10 milers, 9 flat 2 milers have either been kicked off, quit, or mick gave them to gavin who gave them ultimatums. numerous former badgers, including ones who ran for him, don't like the way the program is headed. you would be lucky to find a few who made social media posts congratulating the team on winning another BIG 10 title. they are no longer badger tough
I'm still upset with Schumacher for allowing the top US distance runner to overtrain to the point where his hamstring tore off the bone.
Crickets from the mick haters?
i know some guys who ran for him at Iona in the early 2000's. got my buddy to 1:50 from 1:56 in high school. they said he was a bit nuts and different, but he got a lot out of them as runners. the workload was high, the demands were highhe knows how to recruit foreigners and is pretty good at winning

What are everyone's honest opinions of mick byrne?
I ran for Mick in early 2000's. He was legit and I model my coaching after him. So far, its worked, even with developing runners. I was a quiet kid and wasn't used to being on a big-time team; it was fun, successful, research oriented, smart, and encouraging. I was proud to run for him and he made me a better runner and those around me. He treated us like professionals and didn't want us to screw around with our potential. Some kids want to go to college and be kids. I could see how that wouldn't work in his program.

Sounds fair. I wonder if anyone knows, why does recruiting only mainly occur one way ? United States degree prestige and social networking? For instance lads, there be a lot of almost diaspora Irish, German and Scandinavian runners in the states, but why are they not running abroad ? There is some professional venue already in Western Europe. Perhaps language barriers
