So, no that is not how it works. Just because you can run 50 seconds for 400, does not suddenly make a 60 create any less lactic acid. It does not make you any less out of breath.
Sure the first one feels easy. Then comes the 15 or 30 second break. The second one is not so easy, and they are even more out of breath. They might be able to run 60 again, but they are feeling it now.
The 3rd ones becomes hard, and then 30 seconds, let alone 15 seconds is not enough. After that all bets are off.
Look, sprinters are NOT just faster distance runners who do not need to move up because they are fast enough. They have totally different physiology. They do not handle oxygen debt well. They do not handle lactic acid. In short, their muscles are not made for running even middle distances.
A few are okay at it. I've known a few who could so what you say. Okay, maybe just one. Most are not (in my experience). It's possible Felix is one who can, but I would not place money on it without having seen her work out some.
