Her form is a thing of beauty. Supposedly, she hates running 2 miles for training, but I bet if she put in the work these are pretty obtainable. So yes and yes from me.
Thoughts?

Mile time trial in 2013- 6:49
Not a strong showing, but I still stand by my calls. Definitely think she's got the endurance if she trained. Particularly for 800m.

Screen shot? I scrolled through all the comments and didn't see Felix saying here time.
I believe Allyson ran around a 2:18 800m at a college meet a few years ago. She was way behind. Then it could be the lack of effort at this distance or maybe just a training run.

BS. That is slow as fvck. Any hobbyjogger fitness girl could do that texting and holding onto her latte.
Allyson Felix "tempoed" and I use the term loosely because sprinter athletes do not train in such a way, but she cruised to a 4:57 in a practice / overdistance training stimulus a few years ago at the beginning of her season. I remember a video being available somewhere.
here is an allusion to it. c'mon letsrun, dig up the video!
This is interesting in light of the Bolt thread. Felix is 5'6" and about 110-120 lbs. She is better at 200-400 than 100, but is definitely a sprinter. I could definitely see Felix hitting a mile in under 5 minutes because she is built more like a 1500 runner than a 200-400 runner. But that then sets up a bit of the opposite question. How can she be so good as a sprinter when she is so light and lean?
Absolutely not. Not ever.
Maybe 2:05 and maybe 5:30, but nothing below that.
I know of a female athlete whose coach endorses some longer distance races in the winter. This particular athlete is a world class 400 / 400h runner, about a second slower than Alison in the 400, but further adrift at 100/200 so would arguably have better endurance.
800m - tried several times, best of 2:08
Mile (road) - 5:40
2.9M (road) - 18:40ish
I think macdaddy is in the right ballpark.

--- Her form is a thing of beauty --- ?
Have you actually watched her?
She has a major hitch in her stride. Her left heel seems to bottom out each stride, while her right heel does not.
This could be a major issue moving up in distance.
or...
This could disappear when she moves away from sprinting.
I knew several 46.x 400 guys who could not break 2:00, and they were pure 400 guys. Not 200 guys who moved up.
So, no, I don't think Allyson Felix could break 2:00 in the 800, and certainly not 5:00 for the mile.
Better question, could shalane flanigan run a sub 50 in the 400m?
I believe she has the capability to run 4 X 60 seconds for 400 with a :19 rest between with her last rep in 59 for a 4:58 - 4:59. Not a 20 second rest to make up for 4 laps being 1600 not a mile. Now, does she have the motivation to do this is another story.
I have a hard time seeing her breaking 2:00. Possibly the 5 for the mile, but I'm not sure without more information.
World class 800 and local elite mile?
She is more like 130-140 pounds...

You're joking right? You need to be damn near 4:00 mile shape to do that.

There are at least 2, possibly 3 on my daughter's high school team that can run 4 X 400 @ 65 with :30 rest and the fastest is :57 for 400 & 2:12 for 800. I realize Felix is not aerobic at all but :30/:60 is pretty damn easy for a sub :50 person if they get "any" break at all. With a little practice and mentally into it, I believe she could break 5:00 with the Galloway walk theory. Disclaimer: The reference to Galloway is an intended joke.
