Yeah, and then the ending was terrible.
Would you have preferred the Lost to be saved the way the Gilligan's Island Survivors were? No thanks.

If we are talking 21st century series, you also need to add in 24 to the discussion.
Breaking Bad was fantastic. I am rewatching it now, almost done with Season 2. This time around, I am especially impressed with the acting on the characters Skinny Pete, Badger, and Combo.
And of course Tuco, the most insane character of any of the shoes mentioned, who was only in 4 episodes, but that performances was frightening.
Sopranos was by far the best. Amazing action, amazing story. They could have taken the easy route and made it a crazy action series with mob killings and stuff, but they humanized the mob and that's no easy feat.
Breaking bad was also very good. Amazing acting by Cranston, and a very interesting story. Not nearly as groundbreaking as the Soprano's, but definitely unique.
Lost and Prison break suck. Walking dead is pretty good but it gets really really boring when they are building the story. They struggle to keep it entertaining when developing the characters. There should be a lot more action than there is. Seems like 4 or 5 episodes are boring building up to one big event, then it's boring again for a few episodes.
A bit cheesy at times, but often great story, was Nip/Tuck. Femke Johansson was brutally good.
I've heard good things about "Justified" and have it but haven't watched it yet.
Justified is massively underrated. Great, great show.
Yeah, the last scene of Justified is probably the most perfect ending I've seen for a t.v. show.
Anyone else like Fringe? I loved that series.

Yep.
Breaking Bad.
By far.

I can mention at least 6 shows way better then the ones the O.P. listed the Wire, Game Of Thrones,Sense8,Spartucus,The Blacklist, and Banshee also this new show I started watching is awesome Preacher :)
GOT is now a "I wanna see how this ends" show. Winter is finally freaking here.
Lost ending was the worst ending to a good show I've ever seen...not counting comedies like Rosanne.
Alan
Banshee
Californication
Hung
1 - Breaking Bad
2 - Better Call Saul
3 - Sopranos (but that ending was BAD)
4 - (tied) Walking Dead & Justified; Justified had great characters but the main characters sometimes acted inconsistently. Both guilty pleasures.
5 - Curb Your Enthusiasm
This thread made me realize just how much TV I watch...
If we're bringing comedies into it, Curb Your Enthusiasm and It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia top the list.
On a sidenote, I think the show Vice Principals has potential. The second episode was insanely funny.
Correct answer.

People hating on Lost retroactively. Captured the attention of millions for years. After a lackluster last season people then forgot about how much others who followed it from the start loved it.
Breaking Bad is massively overrated and unrealistic as hell. Lost at least doesn't try and convince you it could actually happen and is feasible.
Lost was one of the best shows for its first few seasons and I don't deny it was awesome. The problem is that the entire premise of the series hinged on some unknown mysterious details/circumstances to be explained at a later time. The final season showed the creators/writers to have been putting us on the whole time. So while it was the best show on TV for a lot of its run the final season revealed it to have been mediocre all along. I don't think Breaking Bad was supposed to be realistic but I enjoyed it. Except for the fly episode.
That's Great! Keep us updated!
Friday Night Lights was good. But actor Michael Jordan (main actor in Creed) is way overrated. The show went downhill with him around.
If not for Jesse Pinkman & Tim Riggins, I would've lost interest in Breaking Bad & Friday Night Lights. They made those shows.
The actor playing Walt White was pretty good- but others could've done as well or better.
