Prison Break, Season 1.
CLEAR winner. Fast moving, edge of your seat, greatly written.
Best series overall -
Sopranos.
The writing really wasn't that good. But the actors in the mob were amazing.
Worst series overall -
Lost.
Was ok for a couple episodes. But the sci-fi aspect did not fit & made it horrible. To note though, I only watched through early 2nd season. But don't tell me the series somehow transformed.

if you didn't like season 1&2 of lost, you would have hated the last 4 seasons. i love breaking bad so much. other great series: the leftovers, the returned, mad men, the Americans
REALLY RECOMMEND THOSE. (the french version of returned, in case there's any others )

I can mention at least 6 shows way better then the ones the O.P. listed the Wire, Game Of Thrones,Sense8,Spartucus,The Blacklist, and Banshee also this new show I started watching is awesome Preacher :)
Breaking Bad was the best overall series I've seen and its final season was the best individual season.
Prison Break had a great first two seasons, but it sort of went off the rails the last two seasons. I still liked it, though. I'm looking forward to the new season next year.
Justified and Walking Dead are my favorite show. They're not the best shows I've ever seen, but they keep me interested more consistently than other t.v. series I've seen.
Dexter was only good four the first four seasons. It went from a really good show to complete crap the last couple season.
People hating on Lost retroactively. Captured the attention of millions for years. After a lackluster last season people then forgot about how much others who followed it from the start loved it.
Breaking Bad is massively overrated and unrealistic as hell. Lost at least doesn't try and convince you it could actually happen and is feasible.
Also, Sons of Anarchy was a decent show, but it got really boring multiple times each season. It didn't consistently keep my interest.

3. Game of Thrones
4. The Wire

Nope. I hated Lost every time I tried watching it. Hated it then. Hated it now.
A big thumbs up for Justified. You can still catch it on Netflix I believe?
Also surprised that the first two seasons of Fargo the TV show haven't been mentioned. A great, great show.

Lost was the awesomest ever for the first two seasons but kinda 'lost' me when they started time traveling and I barely remember the ending.
Tried Breaking Bad but meh, just couldn't get into it.
I love a ratings disaster series called Zero Hour. I think I'm the only one who watched it but it was maybe my favorite show ever.
