So sad to see this after Felix's great run on Saturday. Just kinda killed the good vibe.
We'll never get an opportunity to see "what might have been".
I think Grace would've been 1 or 2, she's been in great form and I wonder what she's gonna do in the 1500? Simpson, Rowbury, Grace?
Huge, incredible drama building up for Sunday. If Martinez makes the team, there won't be a dry eye in the house.
Grace. Martinez. Ludlow.
Period.
Why are there so many posts that keep repeating that Montano tripped Martinez? Is it just one person posting repeatedly?
This is 2016, the replay is available on the Internet for anybody to rematch. Martinez was clearly tripped from in front and already falling before Montano caught up and plowed right into her. Why keep perpetuating the lie that Montano tripped Martinez when the evidence of that lie is right there for the viewing?
Montano didn't trip Martinez. Both of them put themselves into a poor position with 150m to go in the 800m final of a championship. I think either could have been a hope for team USA in Rio, but the 800 is no place for running as dumb as they both did at that level, so they'll be left home (unless Martinez makes the 1500, of course.)

It is everyone with a brain, and you who keeps posting the stupidity.

That was my first post on the subject. And I suggest people ignore your ad honinem attack and just look up replays of the race to decide for themselves.
I think I speak for most people when I ask, what the hell are you talking about? Its pretty clear Montano tried to go right through her. And there was nobody in front of Martinez to trip her. She was basically running side by side with the leader, there was nobody else around to trip Martinez but Montano.

Clearly Montano made a tactically stupid move. After running so controlled she backed up into the crowd and was overwhelmed. I think Martinez stubbed her own toe.
A lot of panic and poor decision making and the right people made it.
I agree. The right team made it through.
Watching it in slow motion and high def of the slow motion replay on YouTube, you can see the contact a little clearer. Martinez's foot goes back normally and both the foot and lower leg come forward pushed to the inside.
Without contact, I think Ludlow beats Grace. Ludlow stumbled and lost maybe 10 feet to Grace when the contact occurred, but lost no more distance on the finish. Plus, I can't see how Grace could have gotten clear to pass all five runners ahead of her without the fall. I think that her move to the front would have been impeded enough to allow Ludlow to beat her.
Martinez was in a great position, but who knows what she would have done over the last 100m. Still, I think Martinez and Ludlow make the top 3. Grace might have made it, too.

I think that's Montano herself who is posting, trying to poison the well.
I started a thread yesterday debating the merits of a four turn stagger for 800 metres. As a one turn stagger race, the 800 metres is and will always be a physical race with significant bumping, pushing, tripping, etc., especially over the last 250 metres. If the race were run again, there would be physical contact.

^^^1000% accurate. I think someone in Brenda's camp keeps posting their version.
The reality is that Martinez tripped and was falling in front of Montano.
That's championship racing. Navigating a crowd, tripping, pushing, elbows are all part of the game. Prepare for that in training and put yourself in those tight spots in your races during the season so you're ready in the championships.
"Blame Brenda" troll is all caffeinated this morning. Just keep twisting the reality until you get your way....
There was no way Brenda would have made the team, she started her kick too early and was out of control w/ 150 to go.
Grace was going to win no matter what, then ludlow and I think montano would have rallied for 3rd.
Seriously, what are you (asker of questions) on? "Martinez was clearly tripped from in front" ? What, by the ghost of Bill Bowerman? Look at the freaking replay. There is no one in front of her. Here, I'll help, run this youtube video up to the 1:35.1 mark on the race clock.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0qrDfry_KK0You'll notice Wilson in front in the middle of lane 1, Martinez back a foot or so at the edge of lane 1, and Rogers about a meter back running on the rail. The first obvious thing to note is that there is no one in front of Martinez to trip her. Second, regarding others' claim that Rogers had a role in tripping Martinez, I want know how that is possible from Rogers position here. She is running on the inside of Wilson while Martinez is outside of her, and about 3/10ths of a second later is when the trip occurs.
And finally, in what world is being on the outside shoulder of the leader heading out of the final turn a "poor position"? Yeah, hardly any races won from that position ...
Montano should be in an institution.
"Blame Brenda" troll is going for second espresso shot/crack pipe hit, so expect more victim-blaming to come.
Rocks will roll, trolls will troll.
Brenda and Carlos clearly feel that Montano is at fault:
