- I understand .... it\'s much easier to insult than address my observations ...
- The running community should recognize the new MODEL that Maj Browne\'s leading ..... recruit the East African talent into citizenship & pseudo-military service in order to take spots on Olympic/World Championship teams. No doubt, Maj Browne\'s coaching resume will look impressive upon his retirement given this model. The real question will be his staying power once he\'s retired from the Guard and the East African-Amercians leave the WCAP or Army --- will folks stick with him? Of course they will .... Coach Salazaar\'s going to hire him.
- More evidence of "The New US Distance Runner Development Model" .... see Chelimo's "noble" perspective on joining the Army -- yes, I'm being a smarts:
- It's not about service, it's about fast-track immigration & running.
- The Formula:
* TAKE scholarship
* Run great & if you can make money at road races then screw your teammates and quit the team so you can profit
NOTE: time your quitting so that the University can't take the state subsidized scholarship from you so you can graduate,
* Enlist in the Army under false pretenses (to gain versus serve)
* Become US citizen ONLY because it's easier to make the team
* TAKE a US Olympic/World Champ birth .....
* TAKE profits & return to Kenya lauging your ass off.
* TAKE, TAKE, TAKE ..... Give nothing back
- Do you all really think Major Browne is coaching these guys ..... ?
You're doing a great job in this thread, Lickety.

Dude ... calling it like it is: guys think the Kenyan's are doing this for God & Country, Alberto better watch-out ... Browne is a fake, folks thinking Browne is some kind of coaching genius ....etc.
I can't believe that the community's not recognizing this new distance running development model .... we're suckers if we consider this noble. BROJO's throwing some softballs at this interviews I'm seeing on You Tube.
Dear Major Browne:
When was the last time you recruited a US born athlete to join the Army and subsequently compete for a spot on the WCAP?
When was the last time you served in combat?
How much Active Duty in the US Army or National Guard while simultaneously on NOP’s payroll?
Are you currently on Active Duty w/the Oregon National Guard? If so, what billet? Is WCAP considered your primary duty? If not, when was the last time you served in your primary billet & how did you do this while training your Soldiers in Mammoth?
Why didn’t the US Army simply assign one of its MWR representatives as the WCAP Coach in order to allow you to address your primary military duties with Oregon National Guard? In other words, spending self-generated funds versus those from the taxpayer.
- Does the American taxpayer subsidize your WCAP athletes with Temporary Duty funds to allow them to live/train in Beaverton & Mammoth so that you can remain in your residence there in Oregon? Why wasn’t Fort Carson & the USOC’s facilities good enough for your WCAP team?
What contract did you negotiate on behalf of the US Army to train at Nike HQs? How much did this cost the American taxpayer?
As an officer, why do you refer to these Soldiers on a 1st-name basis?
last word cup 60 brazilians were on other teams
bernard lagat is kenyan
you cant complain beacuse the people who were supposed to beat them punked out and just a reminder AMERICANS each of you were given citizenship none of you are original to this land
if they were white there would be no complaints
Are you risking your life by joining the army?
Lulz, that is the way our fellow citizens think these days in our polyglot boarding house of tribal, ethnic, racial, dual-loyalty citizenship, LGBTxyz Amerika. There is very little Patriotism in this most welcoming of nations, which in itself is a no-no since that would be *egads* Xenophobia among all the other phobias we must navigate in our PC mine fields.
The Kenyans are just hired non-gun-firing mercenaries who've been bought to bring glory to a self-hating nation. The U.S.A. is the modern version of ancient Babel except that the squabbling peoples of the World are entering not leaving the babbling chaos.
There's no loyalty among all the hyphenated-Americans, so why join the army to die for other peoples borders when your own are OPEN and value of your citizenship is no better than an illegals you "hateful bigot."
Those Kenyan-"American" soldiers will not be combat soldiers and will never leave stateside. Call it "PRIVILEGE."

Love your race baiting. Can't get enough!
If so, then a very smart idiot and very informed troll.
You sir, are the "Ad Hominem winner of the day" congratulations!!!
This isn't a hard concept. The WCAP is probably an inefficient use of funds, but isn't even in the top 100 of military cutbacks we should make, so it is silly to get worked up about it.
Further, these guys busted their ass to make the team. Certainly there life isn't as convenient as a sponsored runner like CD. So I am happy for them.
Go get them in Rio.
This is getting 'stalk-ish'
First name basis? really? You have a problem with that? Do you serve in the military? Why the hard-on over Brown?
Success deserves scrutiny for credibility whether it’s through drug testing or in this case w/the phenomenal ascent of the Major Browne led US Army WCAP long-distance runners during the 2016 US Olympic Track & Field Trials.
Did the US Army transform a Department of Defense non-appropriated funded program designed for deserving soldiers that “just so happened to be athletes of international caliber†into a systemic professional program that likely skewed the 2016 US Olympic Trials results.
Questionable ETHICS:
* Did the US Army WCAP move from encouraging serving talented soldiers currently serving in the US Army to recruiting talented NCAA foreign athletes with student visa's and green card from the Class of 2013 & 2014 and enabling them to become US citizens and prepared to compete at the highest level at the Olympic Trials? Were their tacit agreements that they would also be allowed to simultaneously pursue a professional track and field career in addition to their military duties?
* Did Maj Browne and the US Army WCAP deliberately recruit international caliber athletes from the NCAA for military service with a tacit agreement that they’ll be immediately vectored into the WCP following their Basic and follow-on MOS training versus service in the Operating Forces?
All soldiers ARE NOT US citizens, does the WCAP exclude foreign citizens from representing their country of origin in international competitions?
Specialist Robert Chelimo: UNC-G (2014) … :
Specialist Shamrock Kipchichir: Oklahoma State (2014)
Specialist Leonard Korir: Iona (2013)
Questionable WASTE:
* Why are active duty field grade officers such as Major Browne assigned to lead and manage an alleged non-appropriated funded program as their primary military duty versus leveraging currently serving MWR professionals?
* What military actions are not being accomplished given Major Browne’s absence from the Oregon National Guard?
* Was US Army WCAP access to Nike facilities formally negotiated? Under what conditions or cost?
Questionable ABUSE:
* Who funded Major Browne and other WCP assigned soldiers to train in Beaverton, Oregon and Mammoth Lakes, CA as opposed to the traditional WCAP assignment to Fort Carson, CO? Leveraging Army posts for the WCAP reduces costs and in this situation allows access to USOC facilities/expertise at Colorado Springs.
Did the US Army WCAP select the Beaverton/Mammoth Lakes venue selected because it allowed Major Browne to remain at his permanent duty station versus him to incur temporary duty at Fort Carson for coaching duties? It’s puzzling why funding was utilized to train in Beaverton/Mammoth Lakes versus leveraging an Army post in vicinity of known world-class training facilities at minimal expense.
Lickety. You seem to have somewhat a working knowledge of the military which leads one to the conclusion to that you are a disgruntled former soldier The amount of time and effort you have put into this falls into the thou hast protest too much category. BTW I am a Colonel and use first name when speaking to anyone I work with from PVT through LTC. My CG at 2ID did as well.
Some Soldier .... Phillip "All About Me, Not My New Country" Chelimo:
“I thought that would be a good chance having a coach after college, someone who can support me and be able to focus on my goals for the Olympics,†Chelimo says. “If I go to the Army, I’ll forget about looking for money for upkeep. The only thing I have to focus on is the Olympics and qualifying for the Olympics and representing the U.S. Army in the Olympics.â€
WCAP is a farce!
- 2nd ID: I'm not buying that a General Vandal led organization encourages that command climate that lacks discipline in a place like Korea.
- Hope you have enough folks in the Motor Pool ... don't expect help from WCAP.
- I've got a lot to protest with WCAP manipulation of these Olympic Trials ... fake soldiers at American athletes expense.

Actually 2ID is at Fort Lewis, or JBLM now. Just the HQ of 2ID is in Korea.
- Look it up ... 2D ID's been in the ROK forever
Lickety. I said when I served at 2ID. Meaning formerly was there and had different CG. Never the less the North never invaded despite the fact people used first names when speaking downward the chain, never upward. BTW just saw military band perform in NYC for 4th July. You ok with that use of funds

- Good to hear that discipline's improved on the Penn.
- On Bands, it depends .... I'm all about judicious cut-backs:
http://www.nytimes.com/2016/07....html?_r=0I'd be happy to cut the "Presidents Own" ... much rather trade fake for real Marines
- I'm definitely all about schwacking the WCAP ... unethical jobs program for both Oregon National Guard Officers and soldiers from East African desent. Recruiting to Run versus Serve: shame on the Army!
