I have a hunch that he cheated on the front half. Nevertheless. as I watch this guy run from state to state I have to say that I am impressed. I have run about 10 marathons. They are nice events but you get them done, go home and enjoy the rest of your day, week and life. I can't imagine how awful this endless running through nowhere for what seems like forever must be. Not just the physical but the unrelenting boredom would be enough for me to gouge my eye with a fork.
Congrats Rob.

Hi everybody! So I am new to this thread can someone give me their "Cliff-Notes" version of what has happened over the past 110 pages? And please no skimping on the important details. I have a test on this tomorrow in class!
Ciao
Rob's planned scheduled for May 2017 reveals another interesting possible connection to the mention of 3 peak challenges in 2004, 2007, 2009. Looks like he plans to go for the 3 peak WR in May 2017. That subtle detail makes it look much more likely that he was doing these endurance challenges before he became a marathoner. It would be interesting to know.

Rob cheated.
First, a huge applause to the Ultra Listers for getting out there to investigate.
I think the case is already closed against him, but those mileage totals by state look extremely suspect. According to his route, he crossed the Rockies in NM and went to huge elevation in AZ as well. My instinct (which could be way off) is that he'd be slowest in those states due to the climbing and elevation, even if he was fresh and wasn't battling humidity. Maybe someone on the Ultra list can chime in? In particular, in NM he had his best totals running almost entirely in the Rockies. In AZ he had to climb almost 7000 ft in 180 miles to get to flagstaff.
Using the following link, I looked up some elevations on his route:
https://www.freemaptools.com/elevation-finder.htm
AZ/NM border: 500 ft
Flagstaff, AZ: 6900 ft
NM/AZ border: 5550 ft
NM/CO border: 9500 ft
Maybe someone with the detailed GPS data can fill in pace with approximate elevations/climbs to see if he's cranking out marathon pr's up in the mountains.[/quote]
I can't confirm that the altitude makes a big difference in a TransCon run. Okay I lived in high altitude myself when I ran across the US but all other fellow runners didn't complain about the altitude at all. I think it is almost a non issue since you are traveling so slow.

One weird thing is that alongside all the resume items that seem to be total fibs, everyone in here seems to accept that in the middle of running (and winning! Oooo aaaahhh) marathons across the US last year, he hopped a plane back home and pulled a 3:09 (or 3:07?) at London.
Are we sure it was even him? Yes, the splits look fine... but was it even him.
letsrun is full of detectives with a lot of time, like that marathoninvestigations guy and his scatterplots and photos of people running boston in somebody else's bib... has anyone looked at anything to see if he was even at the london marathon in 2015?
Yeah I highly doubt that this actually happened. Either he wasn't at the trans america thing for a whole, or didn't run the marathon.
Alright what is the status of Laz? Is he running too? Where are the updates?
(Don't tell me he still uses a flip phone)

Can someone repost the link to RY's London marathon pictures? I Want to look and the splits of those running near him to see if they line up with our guy.

Am I right that judging from the Car Wash footage, we can safely say that the stretch form Emporia to Lebo was covered in the RV?
Response from crew guy about my post:
Dustin here, part of Rob's crew.

I am told Rob asked for an additional 15 minutes of footage from the car wash after the rv passed. I have obtained that video, and there are two people that pass by (independently). One is clearly not Rob. It is possible the other is Rob. I have messaged him directly through Facebook to see if he would like to provide any details about his trip through Emporia before I post it. Right now, believers would believe and doubters would doubt, but any details he gives could help one way or the other. Although, the Lebo incident has not been sufficiently explained, it is slightly possible he ran through emporia. I'll let you all know what response I get from Rob (and/or crew) when I post the video(s).
Listen you brash little LR twits putting down Laz and ultra running. Let's see you get out here and run a hundo or 24 hour. We'll see how tough you are then. I'd wager you'd be in the corner crying after 5 hours.
