1 McDougal, Josh LIB 8:01.78
2 Willis, Hunter RICH 9:11.85
not bad for McDougal winning by 1:10...should be interesting 3000 this year at nats

He also split a 54 in the 1600m relay just a few minutes after the 3k.

I belive he was well under the provisional qualifying time, I would think that this 8:01 will get him into Nats.

which doesnt deserve mention
seriously
wow, I am as fast as Josh in the 400m. I can sleep happily tonight.

What deserves mention is the fact that he ran that a FEW minutes after his 3k...I'm sure fresh the guy could run much faster than that.
Do you really think that 8:01 will get you to NCAA this year? I think you'll have to auto. There are some sick times right now and with Washington, Iowa State, and Arkansas next weekend wow!
8:01.xx should get you in I would think. They would start how many? 12+? Some guys who have marks may go mile for example, like Willis?
back in 2002 i think at least one or two guys ran 8:01 and didn't get in

But Willis might go for the 3000 if Brannen goes for the mile and Ellerton (sp) runs the 800. They have a shot to win the meet so I'm sure they're going to try to spread themselves over many events.
bump
Last year at least one athlete at 7:59 was left at home! I will try to find out who. I know that 7:58 was the cut off last year. The NCAA has gotten very fast in this event in the last 10 years. Of course it is now a straight final, so the days of 8:05 making it are long gone.
Actually 8:00 made it in last year as they took 16 athletes.
Folks Folks Folks...
He ran this SOLO, I'm "KINDA" sure he could go about 2-3 seconds faster with someone hmmm within a MINUTE of him to get that "AUTO" if it's such a burden no?
Ps- Josh Check your Liberty e-mail address...your bro too. I e-mailed ya guys a while back cuz your dad gave it to me.
Best of luck this season and outdoors. Catch ya trackside!
Don't know how many minutes are in a 'few', but I saw a gr. 12 run a 5:50 2k steeple (won it by 19sec over yours truly), then come back within 30min I would say to run a 50 point anchor leg in a 4x400...
Then again, if I ever ran 8:01, I would probably sh*t myself and be in shock for about a week...
Great time, hope he does well at Cross Nationals this weekend.
BREAKING: Leonard Korir not going to Paris! 11 Universality athletes get in ahead of him!
Hicham El Guerrouj is back baby! Runs Community Mile in Oxford
What is the most stupid running advice you've ever heard?🤣(It can be funny)
Are Asics, Saucony, and New Balance envious of Brooks, Hoka ,and On?
