10:15 for 2 miles in HS
1:05 for half and 2:15 marathon
To me, this seems exceptional. Without doing the math it seems that the marathon was faster than the 2 mile. The half was significantly faster.
This makes me wonder........
I clicked on this thread since I wasn't running during my peak years (another sport, and I couldn't have done both) but always have wondered what I could have done at 30 yo.
I don't have a 2 mile PR since I never entered a race of that length. My main event in HS was 10k and I think the PR was around 33:30 (road). Now, many of the posts on this thread suggest that 3 times the distance is almost a given but 4X likely doable. So, could I have possibly done a marathon under 5:30 pace? My HS marathon PR was only low 2:50s.
What about a half? I am now (and knew I was then) better at that than any other event. Unfortunately the 1/2 wasn't nearly as popular then as now so no real HS PR exists. Still I wonder how fast some of you think I could have done one during my best years........?????
