In my case, I got to know my wife over the course of a few months (through mutual friends). I knew I wanted to marry her 2 weeks after our first date. Held off on saying the L-word until about a month in (and it took her 3 days to reciprocate). Been together for over a decade.
If it'll keep the oral coming (and you) no time is too soon.
