Sara Hall is Running London Marathon in two weeks!!
Sara Hall is Running London Marathon in two weeks!!
Hmm, quite interesting given that she just ran the Trials. I guess she did drop out though, so maybe she was able to recover quickly and resume training.
Someone's gotta pay the bills around there. She's got 5 mouths to feed.
Hmm.. Ryan takes over her training and now she's onto her 3rd marathon since October and 4th in the past 15 months without a single success yet. He's going to have her destroyed and burnt out in no time. Great job Ryan! Ruin your own career and now Sara's.
Through 10 miles in 57:32 at 73F at the trials.
"Pace continues to quicken as the leaders go through Mile 10 in 5:32. Kellyn Taylor, Shalane Flanagan, Amy Cragg and Sara Hall now lead the chase pack by six seconds. Desiree Linden choosing not to cover this move as if she is confident the leaders will fall back to her."
More like a tempo workout, depending on when she dropped out.
You mean six mouths, if you include her own.
Fred!...Come on!!!...Look at the temperature...73F!!!!!!!!!
The amount of dehydration that could develop from about an hour of running at that temperature could lead to very, very, very, very, very, very large losses of plasma volume....which could mean SEVERE DEHYDRATION!!!!
Get it Fred!!!...Are you an idiot?
Her PR is 26.2 @ 5:46 and she dropped out of the trials at 17. So it was just another workout.

She dropped out at around the 18mi mark. So what's the game plan? She's run 3 marathons now with the best being 2:31. Does she solo a 2:29 or go with the leaders at 2:20ish pace and DNF or walk to the finish. Is there anything to gain by going to London and racing a sub par marathon? Without a solid result she's going to be the faster version of Alana Hadley. Maybe Ryan and Dadley are sharing notes with each other.
Yeah, and she has raced well twice since then (1:10:58 for 15th at World Half on 3/26, and a 53:35 10-miler for 2nd at SACTOWN on 4/3), so it seems like it didn't absolutely destroy her.
I say go for it, as long as she knows that if she does London she'll be spending the summer racing on the roads rather than really trying to make the Olympic team. (After the fall/winter she's had, she's due for a good 2-3 weeks of after London, and that doesn't leave much time for a build-up to the Trials, let alone getting a qualifier.)
She isn't going to make the Olympic Team regardless so she might as well get a vacation to London paid for while she's still able to get comped for these kind of things.

Good thing she dropped out before she got blood curve anomalies

Make that THREE times since the trials. She also raced the NorCal 10 miler (a course with not insignificant hill content) in 55:23.
So since the trials (2/16 DNF):
3/5 - NorCal 10 (55:23)
3/26 - World 1/2 (1:10:58)
4/3 - Sactown 10 (53:35)
4/26 - London (?:??)
That's like how they used to race back in the mid to late 70's. Wishing her well.
Yep, she does alright up to 15 miles or so. Too bad this race in London is a marathon.

Is the London race a 5k or a 10k marathon?
Do you think she is getting appearance/promotional money from the London LOC?
paying a 2;31 marathoner?????? wrote:

Probably, though most if not all is due to her last name having some recognition.
Last year 2:31 got 16th place. How much money is 16th place worth.
She's running 10 to 13 miles at 5:21 to 5:25. What does that translate into a marathon if she has the ST fibers?
Why didn't she just milk Boston for some cash? Maybe she believes that she can PR on the London course.
