And here it is the vid.
Looks to be a couple steps before. This move shall now be known as the "Infield Protector". She had visions of the Worlds all over again. Again - if it's in the rules then I have no problem with it. In terms of perception if it was the other way around we'd be screaming for someone's head.

That video changed my mind.
That was a definite foul and prevented the Kenyan from winning.
There's no way that can be allowed. Definitely should be disqualified. It's clear she "learned" from the WC, where she celebrated and lost the bronze. This time she is putting roadblocks so other runners can't catch her.
That's god damn blatant...should be a DQ for sure. Doubt the Kenyan knows the protest process though.
I'm a fairly big fan of "Milky Huddle," but she definitely put her arm out to impede the other runner. I also wouldn't say this makes her a criminal or a horrible person, she was sprinting to the finish of a hard fought half marathon and instincts were probably on overdrive...also factoring the previously mentioned WC debacle last summer.
Molly got a 50 second PR regardless if she should have won or not due to blocking. I'll admit, even though I'm a huge Molly fan (and I live in Providence) she certainly blocked the other runner for sure. Her left arm went parallel to the road out to the side and the ARM STOPPED SWINGING which I think is the biggest sign it was intentionally. That all being said, she is still my favorite female runner.
Watch it at 0:44 in normal speed. Looks like just one wide arm swing back with brief incidental contact.
The slow motion makes it look a lot more intentional. That split second contact looks much more blatant, when it is really just an effect of slowing the video down.
I wouldn't be surprised if we see this again, unfortunately. Her PTSD is similar to Morgan Uceny's.
Big fan of Molly but that should be a DQ.
Our recap of the race is now up on the front page:
It includes a link to the video of the controversial finish which you is forwarded to the right spot here:
Just watched end of NYC Half - it appeared at end that she obstructed the other racer as they sprinted at the end, holding her left arm out wide. I like Molly but that looked suspicious

That incidental contact had no impact on the race finish.
From the video it looks deliberate to me. I can see putting your arms out for balance if you have a misstep. But it is clearly her reacting to the other finisher and her attempt to impede her advance. I would be very upset if someone did that to me in a close race.

If a Kenyan did this to Rupp there would be outrage and a certain DQ.
If this happened to any Letsrunner he would lose it.
Blatant DQ. Shame on NYRR for ignoring rules to boost their brand with a homegrown (white) win.
You know why every 100 meter dash runner can spread their arms out when they lean? Because the are 3 ft apart.
Molly knew the Kenyan was too weak to break the banner, and since she has been lifting weights, spared the other lady the indignity of a certain fall.
Agree 100 percent!
Molly was cut off 3-4 times by the Kenyan runner, and I say this as an athlete not with as someone with an ounce of pro-America sentiment. The Kenyan runner seemed oblivious that she was doing cutting Molly off. Because of this, Molly lost her stride a couple of times.
Molly's final kick was remarkable. It was anyone's race until the very end. Her arms did no interfere with the Kenyan runner. Molly won; she had the stronger kick, the faster leg speed.
I think the idea of a DQ is the wrong one. Would I take her out of the results entirely? Definitely not. The sport needs to have a way to put her 2nd.
The side angle replay is the worse one for Huddle:

To be honest, that looks quite bad for her. That being said, I think she probably would have won had she not done it. I know that's not how the rule works.
Although I'm not sure where the finish is. Is the finish where the mat is or where the overhang thing is?
I'm just glad I'm not a race director and am real glad this wasn't the actual NYC marathon. But races need to get the process down right now in case it does happen in NYC. I'd most definitely write my own rules so that is something like this did happen, that Huddle would end up 2nd and not a total DQ which would have huge time bonus and finish $$ implications.
