Molly Huddle Interference? Should Huddle have been DQd for flailing her arms out at United Airlines NYC Half?

If it had been the other way around everyone would've been screaming for blood at this point...I thought it was a little suspect as well.

I totally agree. Looked like interfere and not good sportsmanship.

She may be mad because she lost that bronze last year. She let a runner pass her on the inside. So she gifted that bronze. Now she tries to do the opposite, by blocking a runner from passing her.

To be fair, she was getting cut off every turn over the last 4 miles. The lean atthe line was the only time she interfered with the kenyan runner. But if you followed the race before that, the kenyan runner would cut molly off at every turn causing molly to stutter step. So the finish i could see being molly's way of saying not this time.

She should have been DQd....that was clearly an arm to the chest and obstruction....she will apparently get away with it due to her American/Star status. Wrong in a lot of ways and disappointing. That is not the way to win.

The Africans tend to play 'dirty' with race tactics. Not surprised Molly was being cut off on the corners.

Um, I think that you all are missing the more salient point here - Huddle ran 1:07:40, regardless of whether there was interference. And without having seen video, any judgment regarding whether there was, or wasn't, interference is highly speculative at best.

Molly, your arm came out a little at the finish line

as you leaned. Is that kind of an instinctive thing,

body across the line and not fall at the same time. So

that's just -- like I wasn't even conscious of what my

arms were doing. Yeah, I just was trying to get there. I

was pretty tired.

I agree she got cut off on a couple of corners the last 2k however the leader had a step on her and was just racing the tangents. Watching it live , it appears that she obstructed her at the end. She had a 2 step lead and I think she still would have won regardless but it taints a great race IMO.

The second place finisher didn't seem too upset about it at least initially.

Her right arm was apparently blocking off that third ghost runner. It looks to me like she thought she was running on a treadmill and trying to take off. That other runner was trying to jump on the treadmill beside her.

If the Kenyan 'should have won' then she should have overtaken Huddle before the final 2 metres.

True but the Kenyan is 'probably' doping so lets call it even!!!

It's a road race. The Kenyan didn't need to be on Molly's shoulder. Too much is being made of this. When runners break the tape they spread their arms. I've seen this done many times. I would agree with potential poor sportsmanship only if she had spread her arms prior to breaking the tape. So IMO no interference occurred.
