I am sure one can get a decent education at Boise State.
I think it would take discipline and focus to get the best resources out of the school and truly succeed. And it is likely some people accomplish this task at BSU. It would not surprise me if this disciplined young runner is indeed one of those students.
But let's be clear. This is a school that has spent considerable sums lobbying for its college football team (contesting the Power 5 dominance), yet has a 12 percent 4 year graduation rate - 12 percent. And a few years back it hovered around 5 percent. To me, Boise State represents everything that is wrong with college athletics, although to be fair the women's cross country team is not the source of corruption.
I know different schools fulfill different needs. But I don't think it is unfair to refer to Boise State as a football team with a school attached. I don't know how university presidents justify it.
