Some things I didn't know about here.

1) She's an unreal real competitor. Despite being the smallest person on the team, shew as amazing at basketball.

2) She's an incredible student. No Bs since like 3rd grade. A professor at Boise State said she's the best student she's ever had.

Really nice, thanks for posting. Btw, I sense Allie was always better than perhaps we realized. I wen back and watched her NXN race, she appears to be running conservative until the last couple hundred meters and winning all of that mountain stuff is no cakewalk.

I really like her. I'm just concerned stuff like this will be too much pressure leading to burnout.

Also if she gains weight.

Who is the "we" you refer to? Do you have a mouse in your pocket? I knew upon first seeing her race at NXN what kind of talent she has. Some coach explained "she only weighs about 70 lbs." as the reason he thought she wouldn't do anything in college. LOL!

I'm thinking if she doesn't mature soon she'll be looking at a string of stress fractures. And, before you delete me, I'm not saying she has a problem, other than, well, her very small bone structure... which is obviously a stress fracture risk.

Yeah, just like all the stress fractures those tiny Ethio and Kenyan women are always getting...ohwait!

If 7 years running Mt Marathon didn't give her a fracture of some sort, it's not likely going to happen.

Those two comments of mine were unrelated. The quote I found just plain funny but overall my impression was of a tiny girl with uncommon inner resources.

So...uhh...how well known is it that Corey has many of his kids on thyroid meds? I couldn't tell you if Allie is...but get back to us in 2-3 years before you "LOL" that Allie "won't amount to anything in college."

Gazelles have small bones, and strong, of high density.

Great article and what talent. One fact wrong, the Dipsea in Marin County, CA, is the second oldest foot race in the US. It is also a race with brutal hills both up and down.

Still looks like a future marathoner to me - as might be Molly Seidel. I might be wrong, but both seem to have very efficient running form and seem well-suited for the long haul.

I believe that the right temperament is important for the long haul, and although I'm no expert on judging this, she does seem to have a good one. That right combination of calmness and gutsiness, like Joan Benoit.

Gazelles are not humans. Small women are at higher risk for osteoporosis. extremely low body fat often equates to amenorrhea and/or low estrogen levels, which prevents strong bone development. How many very tiny women have been sidelined with stress fractures during college running?

Have seen her race since high school. Both those that say she's next great thing and those that say she'll flame out are not all that bright. Just let her run and see where it takes her. She does seem to have a good attitude and approach, and has made a remarkable transition to college.

In the article she states that she is bypassing Mt Marathon for the Trials.
