Paul Ereng was 20 years and 7 months when he was a freshman and ran that
Brazier is 18 and change
There is a huge difference in those ages for that year in college..

It is amazing how these young College guys get out and after it in the 800.
Now this has been a lightly raced season by Pros, but I think the best is like 1:46.70 or something near that?
There are 8 collegians at 1:47.13 or better.
Three just went 1:46.3x or better in same race. NO rabbitts
Tiernan will be fresh for the 3k. Ches will be doubling back from the 5k and DMR. Looking back at 2009, when Galen completed the triple. He ran 13:48, split 3:57 and then ran 7:48 going out in 2:02 and then cruising it in, waving to the crowd. Is Cheserek fitter than Rupp was in '09? Maybe. Tiernan will likely go to the front and push the pace. It's tough to see Ches losing, but I'll pick Tiernan.
Is everyone 100% on Ches running DMR? Regardless of how the 5K goes and effort required, that is an awfully short double back and having to go to the wall for sure you would think?

I'm far from 100% thinking he'll do it. Oregon has two good milers in Prakel and Haney and they don't need to hit it out of the park to win NCAAs. But Cheserek is so good that they might let him do it anyway.
Jon, me too on that, but I think a DMR win might require 3:55 type leg or at least that kind of last 600 when they ratchet it down for sure, very very hard anaerobic effort. even a pedestrian 5K takes something out of you.
You are also right they do not need to win all these events, they will score multiples in some anyway.
I am proud to have started this thread. I'll post my official predictions tomorrow.

Awad? Unusual pick. Unless you are Awad.
Is it that much more unusual than picking Wynne?

How is Wynn unusual? He won nationals in high school. Split faster than Justyn Knight at ACC's DMR and started passed him in the process, came back to win the mile and 2nd in the 3000 behind Knight. I'd say he wins
*Wynne
And get rid of the started. Ugh too many errors
Wynne for da win
Our preview of the women's mile is now up.
Can UNH's Elinor Purrier Win One For the Small Schools?

The men's mile is also up. Could Blake Haney become an Oregon legend while just being a true sophomore? Remember, he did beat both Grant Fisher and Drew Hunter last spring to win the US junior title.

To the guy who picked Awad, we just don't see that happening.

How is Awad unusual? He is the all-time Ivy record holder, a Penn Relays OD champ in the mile,
I certainly think Wynne could win but so could Haney, or Koech, or Awad, etc. Doesn't seem that unusual to pick anyone in a wide open mile.
Rodgers will lead the Oregon Women to a 1,2,3 finish in the 800 just watch.:) go DUCKS
I see the NCAA indoors is on espn 3 yeahhhhhhhhhhh so so glad it's not on flotrack. Flotrack has ruined track in field charging what 20 bucks a month g t f o flotrack thanks ESPN :)
Why does every meet prediction thread automatically only talk about the men's races? This isn't the NBA vs. the WNBA... in track, the women's races are just as exciting as the men's. I clicked on this thread to read a discussion of the top men AND women in the NCAA. There are women doing some pretty exciting stuff in the NCAA right now... give them some hype.
The boys' club needs to grow up...

3/10
800 - Brazier, Murphy, Kidder
Mile - Haney, Williams, Elliot
3k - Tiernan, Cheserek, McGorty
5k - Cheserek, Murphy, Scott
DMR - Oklahoma State, Georgetown, Michigan
I think that Oregon will sweep the distance. Mile up to 5k, DMR included. I know its gutsy, but Ill say it.
Also, I think they use Haney on DMR anchor. This hard anchor would tire him out, so I think his teammate Prakel will take the mile in a slow, tactical race.
Great interview with Steve Cram - says Jakob has no chance of WRs this year
