Classic: Jenkins tells Ches who's the boss after Millrose: “I don’t know if he can say he let me win today.”

Um...Jenkins did not win yesterday.

Chen obviously was going for the NCAA qualifier (I have no idea why, because he should have raced to win). But, nonetheless, Ches leading the majority of the race makes this obvious. Leading takes a ton out of you, a big reason why pacers exist. If you follow, you just go through the motions. If you lead, you set the pace and push the whole time. Ches leading is silly racing in a distance race, and it makes sense that he wouldn't finish fast as a result (which I am sure he knew would happen). Hence, he led simply to get the standard, not to compete for the win.

Who cares? Jenkins is now a professional and Ches is still in the college system. Who knows what the differences are in their training/resting/racing strategies or schedules. Jenkins sound bitter that he was owned by Ches while they were on the same level in the same training cycle. So nothing to see here. Get back to us when Jenkins beats Ches once they are both pros.

grampa ches is in the college system at eugene clown kollege. That is the same as being pro. High salary, less than zero academic pressure and the best NOPe dope, centro sauce and oregon juice.

What is the CR? 7:38 by Cragg? Ches would've gotten that yesterday if the field didn't make the only collegiate do all the pacing.

Eric isn't bitter. They are good friends actually. You're just projecting because you have some weird issue with him.

The Brojos decided to play up the rivalry by not writing all of what he said. He was very complimentary of Cheserek and mentioned that he had run a warm up with him and probably would cool down with him as well.

unfortunately for grandpa ches, he's close to his max potential (unless he goes "training" in Kenya)

When its all said and done, Jenkins, who has much more upside, will run a 5k somewhere between 12:50-12:55..

Yeah those 8 second PRs are a dime a dozen for those maxed out overage, maxed out post collegians. If he gets another 8 second PR AT NCAAs In March he might actually be pretty respectable.

Once again I guarantee you Ches never said he let Jenkins win. He was saying at that point in the race he gave up and was at peace with the fact that Jenkins was going to win (no matter what Ches did, ie no use fighting to the line). Let him.../let me... etc is a very common phrasing in east Africa. If anything it's a way of sounding modest. If Jenkins doesn't get this it makes me think he never bothered to get to know his teammate very well because he was too focused on trying to beat him.

If I was a bit more motivated, I'd save this thread/post to bring back once Ches breaks 13 and Jenkins is still trying to break his 13:07 PR.

Your argument is illogical. You say he didn't say (which he 100% did as shown above) but if he did say it, he didn't mean it because we don't understand the East African definition of let.

To the contrary, Cheserek had the best and most opportune position of any runner in the race, but was just not fast enough to run any faster than he did.

Not quite sure what that last statement means in English, Rojo, but the headline and the last statement in the note repeat the rivalry aspect without giving the context at all, which is that he is still friends and warmed up with him before the race. That is called hyping it up, creating the appearance of more conflict than there is.
