Rupp was running in the front.
Meb wanted to run where Rupp was and had a hissy fit meltdown.

No, we are shocked that he brought the chippiness into the press conference.

You are shocked that he answered a question in a post-marathon press conference, in a manner that was direct, honest and charismatic?
You must be brain-dead from watching too many Rupp interviews.

I like Meb - and if he could have a press conference "do over" I think he would have just said something like "Galen and I were having a fun time mixing it up" and just leave it at that.
I watched the relevant race portion - and must say that Meb's reaction seemed disproportional. Now maybe it was a culmination of "micro-aggressions" over many miles that led to that reaction? I doubt it as they were not even near each other for most of the first 10-15 miles. However, when we are in the 22nd mile and insanely hot and tired, none of us think too clearly.
BTW - I'd pick Ward to take them both down, simultaneously, in an Ultimate Fighter competition...
Rupp has thrown an on-track hissy (and Salazar lied for DQs) over less close contact. On an indoor track.
There is a lot more room than that in a marathon with two bodies on one stretch of highway. Running up someone's butt is unnecessary.
Meb has run 23 marathons, in packs and out front, with the best in the US and the world. His actual competitors (which Rupp's Letsrubb fanboys will never be) respect and actually support him. I'll take his thoughts on in-race douchemoves over the babbling of kids who can't do 5k at his marathon pace.
It seems Meb doesn't like others stealing his spotlight. Meb isn't the American hero we are all led to believe. He's very competitive and not the nicest guy on the competitive level. It was poor sportsmanship on his part to talk negatively about Galen. He was lucky to make it to Rio in the first place as he is passed his prime. Doesn't say much about the quality of American marathon runners when they get beat by a 40 year old. The African nations are still the most dominant runners in the world and will dominate at the Olympics as always. Meb is probably pissed Galen smoked him near the end like he was standing still. Galen is the US's only hope for a medal in Rio. He is a potential GOAT American runner.
I think this is way deeper.
Galen Rupp is like the rich spoiled white kid that gets everything handed on a silver plate.
Meb grew up in a war zone and had to work for every little thing he achieved in life.
On top of that, I believe Meb made up his own mind about the NOP scandal. He decided to not talk about it but it's obvious that he doesn't like these guys at Nike.

I've never seen a Rupp interview. Meb looked like a tool. If you find being a tool charismatic, that's OK.

Meb's PR wrote:Ummm, Rupp isn't close to sniffing Meb's marathon PR, and has never won the Boston marathon, NYC marathon, a marathon Olympic medal, or been an Olympic runner in 4 separate Olympics.
Well, I don't think too many people really think Rupp couldn't breeze through 2:07 or better at one of those fast marathons. He just sub split by two minutes while the weather was getting unbearable and he let of the gas during the last mile plus.
You forget to account for the fact that the Olympic trials course is flat as a pancake for the majority of the way. 2:11 on a very flat course evens out with the heat.
A lot of people don't like Rupp because of all the doping allegations. Frankly, history tells us that if there are multiple evidence and people in the know stepping up as witness, there is a very very high chance Rupp/Salazar are doing it. Not 100%, but look at A-Rod, Lance etc.

This. Rupp has this sheltered, provincial white boy thing that comes across very strong.

Their conversation wasn't friendly and he was annoyed that Galen was running so close to him.
I think you didn't notice that actually.
Nice rebuttal.

My impression from the video was that Meb was totally out of line, Cragg was embarrassed for him, and Rupp was quite professional.
In other words, the opposite of this happened.

She found it funny, as did everyone on the panel and a good deal of the media in the room, because very few people like Rupp. Whether he dopes or not is up for debate, but the other elites think he does, so he is not a well liked person on the circuit. It's pretty obvious. If the same situation happened with, say, Ritzenhein, Meb wouldn't have even acknowledged the question with a response.
So, Meb is clean? And Amy is clean? STFU and keep you head in the sand. NOP has nothing against them, but he said she said. You would be surprised who is not so squeaky in running ( Not talking about NOP).
Freud Communications back at work.
Rupp threw an elbow in the middle of the race. You could see it on NBC. The commentators mentioned it. Meb was giving people his water bottle while running, trying to help out other runners. He's a class act.

Galen has won ZERO major international races.

Let that sink in.

This didn't happen, and is total BS.
Meb, Bernard and Abdi sit around a hookah every now and then and laugh while lighting it with a Benjamin.
Great interview with Steve Cram - says Jakob has no chance of WRs this year
