So upset over his dnf. How does a 13:44 hs kid that ran 8:11/12:56/ 27:22 ruin the best part of his career by fooling w the marathon after NUMEROUS bad experiences w it. I hope ritz will go after on the track but I'm doubtful.

Ritz is finished give up the dream
Such amazing prescience on your part, posting this shit immediately after he drops out.
How many guys in the field have run in the 2:07's?
Had he never tried 26.2, guys like you, not that anyone cares what you think, would be complaining about that too. Just shut up and go back to beer pong.
unfortunately, I'd say this was Ritz's final race.

Ritz is finished give up the dream
I 100% agree. Stupidest thing an athlete can do is to try and keep living something that isn't true. ALSO can we officially put to rest that Dathan is "tough?" I've commented on multiple threads how much of a wuss he really is, specifically pointing to marathon performance as the reason why. I even said he'd have some lame excuse this time around and there was a HUGE backlash, even after I gave solid evidence. Give up the dream Ritz and go do whatever it is you think you should now that your running career is over.

May I ask why?

Oh!!! Well in THAT case, I guess he must be?
Anything else you've run your trap about a bunch, so we can be sure to know that whatever those things are are true?
In ritz entire running career he has dnf 2 races: Athens 10k 2004 and today. Hope he atleast regains the sense go out on a higher note. I'm not convinced he can't make 10k team. rupp/ Derrick and then it's up in the air

Ritz said in an interview a couple of weeks ago he wasn't thinking about the 10k at all, but if for whatever reason he did not qualify for the marathon, he would attempt to make the team in the 10k. I think ( and hope ) he does.
Ritz isn't done unless he wants to be. He could very much make the 10k team.

And he had a stress fracture in that Athens 10k, so no shame in that.
Ritz probably shouldn't have trained so much in chilly Michigan. If healthy, he will attempt to qualify for the 10K team but will be a long shot to make the team
he is very talented but it seems he is very injury prone. he probably has lost many races to less talented runners who were able to train more consistently. must be very frustrating.... but being durable is just as much a talent as being fast, so there are probably a lot of durable runners who must be frustrated that they cannot run fast!
He didn't take the weather conditions seriously. It was hot out there and a lot of people were suffering big time. You don't just throw on a sweat shirt and run on an indoor track 10 days before a marathon and expect to compete at a high level in 80 degree heat. I think he was over confident and didn't prepare properly. Really wasn't a professional when it came to this race. He could have came down to LA a week earlier and he would have been much better prepared. If you're not willing to be away from your family for a couple weeks then you really don't want to make the Olympic team that badly. Not sure where he goes from here but retirement might not be far away.

This is redundant, but this guy is also a stupid idiot.
