I'm a 6'6" mid-distance runner. Having trouble finding a car that I can drive safely/comfortably. Anybody got any suggestions? Something you've driven/own that is particularly roomy?

Ford Taurus
Toyota Camry
Honda Civic
My brother is 6'2" and fits fine in all 3 of these.
I'm 6'4.5" and have this sort of problem all the time.
Best by far I found (and I tried a good 5 or 6 different cars in the family saloon/hatchback bracket) is a Vauxhall Vectra which is a UK car and what I ended up getting. The key is that the seat tilts thus effectively giving a lot more legroom. Not sure if there is a US equivalent but think Vauxhall is General Motors in the US.
You can of course ease the problem by driving in your socks or with shoes with very thin soles rather than standard running shoes. I tend to do this if going any sort of distance but even so I still have everthing back as far as possible and the seat angle rather relaxed to get even more room.
My wife has a VW Beetle and the rare times she let me drive it, it was OK - surprisingly so because it is much smaller than the Vectra. Another car she had, I could barely sit in the passenger seat net alone drive it!
Good to know there is another distance runner taller than me. I only know of one taller than me in the UK of any notable standard!
I'm 6'5", all legs, and fit well in my Dodge Intrepid.
Toyota Echo. The seat is raised giving your legs room and the roof of the car is high giving you lots of head room. I love ours and don't think I'll drive another type of vehicle again. Good fuel economy and parallel parking but no power which hurts on long highway trips (which arn't that often for me and they really aren't that bad).
My GF is 6'4" and fits well into her F150
Oh, car! My sister has a Dodge Intrepid that is very comfortable. My personal fav is a mid 80's Olds 88. What great cars! In HS I had a 73 Caddy Eldorado. 19 feet of crusing comfort. It was like a living room on wheels. 8-10 mpg sucked, but the back seat was nice.
VW Passatt. 2000 and newer. Tested by 6ft.+ guys. Front and back - plenty of room.
not a jeep cherokee. one of my teamates needed to borrow mine for an afternoon since he totaled his. he was 6'2 and said it was uncomfortable for him but it's fine for me (5'10).
If you like funky cars try the Scion xB (the boxy one).
It does not look like it but it has ton of leg room in the front. More leg room in the back than anything in its class (or anywhere near its class). Plus, it comes with great standard features and is under $15,000. I have had mine about 9 months now and I love it.
By the way, it is a Toyota product so it should run forever.
I was in a Land Rover last week, plenty of head room. ;-)
I drive a Toyota Tacoma and have a fair amount of room, even with a ~2 inch foamy cushion and back support "thingy".
SUVs generally have enough room, but nothing has leg room like a minivan. I had a Ford Windstar. On a vacation, I rented a Dodge Caravan.
The key with SUVs is to make sure you don't get a sun roof. The ceiling is inches lower to fit the sun roof + retracting mechanisms in there.
I'm 6'5" with long legs. I can easily walk over high school high hurdles (39") with both feet flat-footed on the track. I rent a lot of cars and most cars these days are okay. Better than it used to be. Long drives used to be miserable. Not sure they're bigger now, maybe just laid out better. Most cars I rent are mid-size SUVs, which you'll notice are the default car these days. I have a Honda Pilot and a Subaru Outback, and have done long trips with both and had no problems.
I have a 2017 GMC Terrain. This is the last model year before they shrunk the wheelbase 7" . This SUV is popular in the Rockies .

Pretty sure the person has bought a car by now...

Hopefully.
Also Mercedes is the answer, especially classic Benz. Insane leg room.
I'm quite happy with my Chev Malibu. i am 6' 1" , and some times I drive guys I run with , they are 5'7"-5'8" and are the size of normal 14 year old kids . can get 3 of these little runners in the back row.

Didn't catch it was a 15 year old thread. Bumped by a guy to say a van that hasn't been made in 17 years is the answer. Odd.

Also, his suggestion of a Dodge caravan is completely wrong. We have one. Due, I think, to the rear seats that fold into the floor, the front seats have surprisingly limited travel. They don't go back far at all and front seat leg room is average.
Also, everyone that is"6'1" or 6'2" chiming in....lol. that's not tall. The OP has issues you do not comprehend. My oldest is 6'4" and has a 36" inseam, so I can sympathize a bit.

15 year old thread but the problem still exists. I've had pretty good success with these and I'm taller then the OP.
