At least there is a very slim chance Bolt is clean.

Anyone who wants Gatlin to win is insane. Anyone winning is better than a two time cheat. I hope Gatlin retires after the world champs.
Disagree. I hope Gatlin wins, continues his undefeated streak, and then takes gold in London. Gold 12 years apart would be remarkable.
He did his time.
Yes, he did his time for those other offenses. He is running even better now, at age 32 or 33 (not sure, but one of the two) than he did when he got busted. He gives nothing back to the sport either, furthest from a role model for kids than any track and field athlete today.
I'd wonder about anyone who'd want Gatlin to win. And actually, he did NOT do his time. I seem to recall his suspension being cut in half.

As long as he doesn't get gold in Rio I am fine with him getting gold in London, whatever meet that would be.

No, the opposite actually. He actually did 4 years instead of the normal 2 years because he got sanctioned for not disclosing ritalin at one meet when he was 19.

Yeah, he really is a one time (caught once, that is) cheat. I don't like that he is still lying about that positive though.
Slim chance? Well that's about the understatement of the year.
Every time Bolt finds an excuse to miss a bunch of meets and he goes to his doctor in Germany, he comes back and miraculously runs like .2 faster.
2008, he goes 9.69 with no form and backwards leaning like a goofball.
2009, he claims to have ongoing injuries from a car accident, goes to his doctor in Germany, comes back, and runs 9.58 and 19.19.
2012, he struggles to a 9.8-high in the Jamaican trials and loses to Blake, claims a hamstring injury, disappears for a while, and comes back looking much bigger and stronger and runs 9.63 and 19.32.
This year, he goes from 10.1x to 9.8x in no time, and every indication exists that he will go 9.7x or maybe even 9.6x in Beijing.
Now he's doing it again. It's a joke. Bolt and Gatlin are the same.
Uhhhhh, if you think he's "the worst role model in track and field today", you clearly have not been around many pro track athletes. Likely, this statement just coming from someone that knows only what they know from reading letsrun.
It's not just Bolt. It's Jamaica which has 50 TIMES the per capita doping positives of the USA despite the fact they try not to do any testing (can't imagine why). It's also Kenya, where almost as many marathoners have tested positive in the last 2 years as everyone in Jamaica all the way back to Ben Johnson.
Personally, I root AGAINST Gatlin every time, unless he're racing the greater dopers (anyone from Jamaica, including Bolt).
sprinter guy.what you wrote is spot on. it's essentially factual.I remember comparing his size in videos/photos from the Jamaican trials to the 2012 olympics because he looked so much bigger/more ripped like you said

This.
I don't like Gatlin, but I dislike the Jamaican cheats more.
Ok I am gonna be the weirdo here.
He should win.
Drugs or not, he put in the work.
You seriously think his nearest competitors AREN'T doped up too?
But he beats people BADLY. Is the delta in the drugs that big?
He has been crushing meets. Good for him.
two words: USA USA
Actually I hope Justin beats Usain to make things more interesting and to kill Bolt's sense of entitlement in the sprints.

Actually those are acronyms
Being picayune on Letsrun. It's a way of life.

I'm sorry, the chances that Bolt is clean are Slim and None, and Slim has left town.
I'm rooting for Bolt, though, because he's the nicer, better looking doper. Gatlin looks like Sonny Liston crossed with a forlorn bloodhound.
You are disrespecting him. This is so surreal. With the wonderful diversity of the drug world, you should feel empowered yourself, and not have your feelings hurt whoever wins. What a joke.
