I'll be a senior (female) this year in high school and I'm really into the physchology and physiology aspects and such of running. I actually was able to take a kinesiology class this year in high school so I do know what I am doing....But anyways Id love to be able to run D1. However, my running program ar school is awful and my coaches honestly have no idea what they are doing. During track season i ran a 5:19 1600 and then ran the 3200 the rest of the season will an 11:09 at the final meet and this was with 20-25 mpw all season with no long day or strides. I know I have potentional and I know how I should be training but I just couldn't mKe that work with my current high school program/strict coaches (it's my way or your off the team coaches) other than myself, the next best runner on my team runs an 11:54 3200 and our team is fairly large (unfortunately our coaches are very old fashioned)..... Would I stand any chance of being recruited by a fairly good D1 school or would my times need to be better? Would they listen if I explained my situation?.... I do plan on running in the mornings once school starts so that I can bump my miles up to around 40 but I know colleges don't look as closely at xc times and I'll be making my college decision before track season.
