At least some of the other guys mentioned: Lindgren, Ritz, Fernandez, Nelson could have given Webb/Ryun/Verzbicas a run in the 3200m/XC.
Definitely two miles and up Lukas would've won. Mile would be closer, but you're probably right. Wasn't Lukas's sub-4 in much tougher conditions than Fisher's?
Lenny, I saw you were a VA runner from the Webb era. I, too, was a northern VA runner, but one year younger than you. Ritz and Webb were absolutely my idols. Haven't quite ever got quite as into a young runner quite as much as them. The fact that they were the same age, and basically the modern version of Ryun and Lindgren, was great, and the proliferation of distance running news on the Internet only added to the thrill at the time. I rememeber I was so excited to see how Ritz was doing at Colorado when I was in HS.
