I have to jump in, because I was the stadium announcer at D1 in Rockford, and I had people who weren't at the meet say curious things about my announcing. Stuff like, "I heard you on the webcast. That was interesting. Are you still on pain meds from your surgery?"
THAT WASN'T ME! And I don't know why they didn't just use my stadium announcing on the webcast. After all, I knew what the deal was with the multiple cameras in the 1600/mile. And I know how to use a stopwatch. And I know how to pronounce hard Michigan words like "Saline," and "Monroe" and "Gibraltar."
I have no idea who they put on that webcast mic, but I think it was just an innocent person passing by. Maybe they had a flat tire and came into the meet to find a tire iron, and someone handed them the mic instead.
My favorite quote came during the girls 3200 when Audrey Belf had a huge lead on the field: "It's like she's a tiny toy car with cheese on it and everyone else is the mice."
The boys 3200 was notable because Robinson led 7.5 laps and the announcer called him Connor Wuori. And then said that "Garrett" Fisher outsprinted him.
And in that announcer's world, no one on the last lap of a distance race has a kick. Instead, they all magically find their "second wind" about then.
And don't even get me going on the milliseconds!

PS--I watched D3 to see Annie Fuller's 1600 (a 4:57 with a stunning 65-second last lap) and I should say that announcer was far, far better.
