What records did Bekele set without pacers?
Wasn't the last 2k+ of his 5k WR run solo?

Yes.
A better question is what's it pay? I'm sure we could relay it if we need to.

Because he a god damn 32 years old now , too old to lead for a world record attempt , Bekele did it in his 20's
What in the world does age have to do with whether or not someone can pace themselves? Isn't that a skill that should get BETTER with age?
I'm so not a Mo fan, but I'll be thrilled if he splits 5000m in 13:15 and takes a serious shot at posting a fast 10,000m time. Behind a pacer, out front, whatever.
P.s. Bekele had basically no help from his pacer when he ran 5000m in 12:37. Pacer hit 2000m in 5:05, Bekele went solo from there.
Mo Farah will not break 27 minutes. Mark my words. He's done. He was beaten by Gebrihwet in a 7:38 3000m race and won't break 27 ever again. It is time for Farah to retire, he's getting old.
"I order pacers for 9600m
Because that's what champions do"
- Mo Farah
Why does he need to run mid 26 in May, when the worlds are in late August? No need for it.

Buckle ran a 26:25 at Pre in 2008. Amazing to watch. Pacers? Not many stayed with him very far along, and running a complete 2nd 5000 in about 13:12 solo is pretty amazing.
In 2005, when Kenenisa Bekele set the current 10000m World Record, pacers were done before the 15th lap. His brother Tariku, who was supposed to pace him beyond 5K, could not handle the pace and dropped out before lap 15. Kenenisa was leading with the late Sammy Wanjiru following a few meters back, while the rest were all already in single file another 20 meters or so.
I'll do it, provided no photographs are taken during the race.
prediction: 26:48
Underrated post.
Sambu has become too expensive to pace 9200m and take a dive? Seriously, though, Rupp ran 1:57 to close and was not going to be caught by Sambu.
Not exactly. The last pacer was Joseph Kosgei, and left after 4800m. Kenenisa was in front, and Wanjiru and Nicholas Kemboi were with him, in 13'10". Wanjiru remained with Kenenisa till 6th km, same Nicholas, but after this they were not able to maintain the same pace, and Nicholas at 7 km was 10 meters behind Wanjiru, and 40m behind Kenenisa.
Kenenisa ran the second half completely alone, in 13'07".
When bettered the WR of 5000m, his split after 3 km was not 5'05", but 5'07"45, so he finished in 4'59"9 the last 2 km, of course alone.
Negative splits are the normal way to better a WR. This happened also during the first WR of 10000m of Kenenisa, during the WR for steeple of Shaheen, and during all the road records (HM and Marathon), men and women.

You're pretty quiet this evening.

Thanks for the clarification!

Because he can't run 26:30 solo. Under "Rupp like" pacing a Farah in shape to solo 26:30 would be able to threaten Bekele's record. I don't think Farah is in that shape.
