Pathetic, even for a distance runner. 85 pound female gymnasts can do better than that.
He's probably not lifting to see how heavy he can go. Those are with a PT, possibly to maintain stabilizer muscles with high reps. Quarter squats make more sense for a distance runner anyway since you never have that much bend in the knee when running.
