Stop whatever you are doing, go to the finish line video, and go to clock time 3:06:30. Watch the guy with the dog for the next 20 to 30 seconds.
For a guy with such an outward personality, the apparent lack of mention of his 3:11 on social media is very telling. The qualifying race would seem like something much more worthy of online bragging than simply finishing the actual marathon in Boston, especially if you ran it an hour slower than your PR. For me (a guy who had trouble hitting the BQ time when I first started running and wanted badly to get it) training hard and consistently for a long period, then making the qualifying time in another race was much more rewarding than actually running the Boston Marathon. Anyone else feel the same way?

Some SALIENT points:
Jack Fleming of the Boston Athletic Club, which organizes the Boston Marathon, said his organization had not been formally notified of the controversy. Should the investigation lead to Rossi being stripped of his finish time, the athletic club would then consider the matter, he said.
Gerry Yasso added that he hopes the investigation will be concluded "in a matter of weeks, not months."
3:06:30 on the clock on the bottom?
I didn't see anything about a dog at either 2:06 or 3:06
This is all pretty damning evidence, and I totally understand why everyone here is devoting so much time to the investigation, but moving forward, I ask everyone to please leave the principal out of it. Speaking as another parent at the school, I promise you that the staff is aware of what's happening by now, and I wouldn't be surprised if there's some private schaedenfreude at the shoe being on the the other foot. That being said, I can't imagine that the principal or anyone who works there is going to make a public comment. They are thinking, as they should be, of the children in their care. We already had news vans at the school in late April, and it was awkward enough trying to explain why they were there to the kids without subjecting the Rossi twins to hurtful gossip. We don't need a reprise. They are really nice kids, and they didn't start this. For their sake, and the principal's (and ours), it would be great to keep the focus off the school.

No, the race clock hanging over the finish line.

As if this thread needed to be made more entertaining... I'm sold, I'm definitely running Lehigh next year.
For anyone else, go to 3:06:30 on the race clock above the finish line. Worth it!

Thanks for this. That's hilarious. Too bad we have to now DQ the dog...

every news outlet that ran the original school letter story should be notified of this article, great 'follow up' piece.. "Remember the 'marathon dad' we interviewed, well we have some interesting new developments..."

This is a good idea. The media property and writer deserve it.

Agreed. But that's not in our control. We are just message board posters looking at pictures, making spreadsheets, and emailing media. It's the medias responsibility to keep it under control at this point.
The news is out there and that's all we wanted, our job is done. All we are doing now is sitting and watching things unfold. The past few pages here have just been making fun of Rossi.
