Rossi read this and cogitate on it and when you're in a reflective mood watching the Boston Marathon on TV ask yourself this question 'should I do the same thing as John?'.
"Hello Derek,
Your article regarding my BQ was brought to my attention last night. I am ashamed that I have allowed myself to be placed in this position and wanted to write to the running community to sincerely apologize for my actions.
The intent of starting my blog was to share the health and lifestyle benefits of running and to encourage more people to take up the sport. It was never my purpose to use running for my own personal gain or to mislead anyone along my own running journey.
However, I made inappropriate race decisions that resulted in a BQ that I was not entitled to and I am genuinely sorry for these decisions and apologize to any runner that missed out on a Boston start, due to these actions.
I have also decided to immediately discontinue my blog, as I believe that I have let down our readers and supporters.
I also encourage other runners to learn from my mistakes, as it is easy to be blinded by a goal and to make decisions that you will forever regret.
I appreciate the opportunity to respond to your article.
John"
