Does not sound too much like a talentless guy too me based off his 10K pr on the road he should have been capable of running a 2:19:10 Marathon.
Here is his profile:

Talented? There were a number of guys OVER 60 that beat his arse in this Boston Marathon. How talented is that when the over 60's give you a good beat down.

Far left, red number, yellow singlet. Clearly, I wasn't alone (1095 in sweats and fellow collegian Eddie S in 75).
How many 4:38 miles have you run downhill or otherwise?

Besides, I've seen Ryan Hall pull this in a number of marathons. IE sprint to the lead at a pace that there is no way he can hold.

You are the one who is missing the point. If someone wants to lead the first mile, regardless of the reason, he/she has every right to do so. If it was such a disrespectful act, as you suggest, there would be rules against it. I guess you think the "elites" own the street, and everyone is suppose to get out of their way. As it was, this guy never got in anyone's way and I didn't hear anyone complaining about him.
Be a real man and win the race like the Dad did in 2014. Daughter's won't forget that! Life's not a sprint, its a Marathon.
I've actually run a lot of 4:38 miles on flat roads and tracks. That is slower than my 5km pace.
It appears that this guy's antics have the support of many hobby joggers and/or some high school selfie obsessed wannabes (who in some twisted way want to relate to him).
The focus is on: "he has every RIGHT do to this...blah blah." There seems to be this cloud of animosity against the real elites.
He may have a "right", but it doesn't mean it's not disrespectful or an unnecessarily risk to others. Just a couple of his tweets and Facebook posts already show he's totally full of himself.
