I hate to sound like a nihilist, but it is time to eliminate the National Parks. With the economy in shambles and our country's population growing at a rapid rate, we need to utilize the land currently seized by useless National Park systems. Yes, I realize they are pretty. Yes, I realize that they are unique. Good! All the more reason to use them for the greater good. There is no tangible good in just keeping them sitting there, not doing anything but wasting away. Much of this land would be prime development space. It's time.
Economy in shambles? That is debatable. The debt is a concern, (for me anyway) so I will grant you this as a relevant concern. I don't know if rate of pop growth is increasing.

The majority of the Natl Parks are in remote locations, far from population centers.
The greater good is what they are used for right now. Proposal denied.
