prob not, but I'd know to look online before shopping at walmart next time. 5.40 isn't much. I might have returned it back when I was a broke college student however. There was one time I got down to thirty one cents in a bank account.

My wife and I are taking a short 2-night getaway this weekend, so it'll probably get spent then. Not sure on what, however. We're touring a few museums Saturday, so maybe I'll spend it there.
I would use the money to splurge on something special for your wife. You could get her a nice paperback book at a used book store. Or you could use the newfound funds to pay for a few hours at a parking meter while you explore a park. YOU ARE THE MAN!!!
Wait, something cost less online than in a brick-and-mortar store? Alert the media! You should let the world know about this shocking discovery.
No. It would mean I'd have to go back to Walmart.

I actually looked online first, but I wasn't sure what model would be the best size. That's why I decided to go to Wal-Mart: to see the actual product in person before making a purchase. The price at Wal-Mart was $20+tax and I thought that was an okay price (not really having much to base that on). It wasn't until later that I looked up the same model online and found it cheaper.
Wash shipping included in the best buy price ? If not, what was the shipping cost ? Or was it shipped to the store so you'll have to use gas to go pick it up ? Is your time worth nothing ? I would suggest spending the $5 savings on condoms so you don't reproduce.

lol.
The Best Buy order had "free" shipping. Total price was $14.99 + tax (they have a brick-and-mortar presence in my state). Total Walmart price was $19.97 + tax.

Just a quick follow-up. I did return the mouse to Wal-Mart yesterday. It was a bit less than 15 minutes to get the return completed. I did have to stand behind a parent and a screaming baby. Also, as I entered the Wal-Mart, there was a lady talking to a police officer about an "incident." As I left, two more cops had arrived.
When I got home, I ordered the same mouse off of bestbuy.com.
Another cost to consider is the environmental impact of this change. You will have made two trips to Walmart and then have the cost of having the item delivered from Best Buy. All of that effort will have an environmental cost greater than 5.40.
You should send that mouse back to Best Buy and return to Walmart to get the original product.

I'm not worried about the environmental impacts (I'm a Republican, as you might gather).

No, rojo, I would not.

Why is nearly every one of your posts a personal insult to the Brojos?
a) nobody insulted anyone
b) "nearly every one of my posts"? WTF is wrong with you?

POW wrote:No, I wouldn't. $5.40 /time it takes to return it & order a new mouse (45 minutes) is about 7 dollars an hour return on investment. Not worth it in my opinion. If you are talking about only 5 minutes because you were going to walmart then yes, I would.
Thanks. I was not planning on going to Wal-Mart, but it is right on the way home. I assume 15 minutes from the time I pull into the lot to the time I pull out (lol). I plan to buy the mouse on bestbuy.com (already have it picked out), so the purchase process online will take only 5 minutes. So, I figure about 20 minutes total.
That's the only looking at the monetary portion of it. Some people get additional utility out of "getting the best deal" - they actually get a sense of satisfaction from it. These are the same people that drive 5 miles out of the way to save $0.03 a gallon on gas. If you're one of these people, it may well be worth it. I get little to no satisfaction on "finding the best deal", so I wouldn't do it. As long as the price is reasonable, I'd rather save my time and do something else.
Walmart needs that money more than you do. Give them a break.
you should figure out why you were looking for a mouse after just buying one - shouldn't you have been using the mouse with your computer to make more than $5.40?
I would definitely return it. To address the points against returning it:
I'd return it on my next scheduled trip to Walmart. We typically go once a week, so there would be no increased cost or environmental impact for the trip.
How dumb are you people that take 15-20 minutes to complete an online order? Even on the most counter intuitive websites an order can be completed in less than 5 minutes. What would you do instead, browse this site?
There is no significant environmental impact for my one small item. The UPS, FedEx, and USPS are in my neighborhood every normal business day (for their respective companies). My 1 lb package doesn't add to the impact. You know, they actually schedule and plan their deliveries to minimize costs, and purely by coincidence, environmental impact. Now if everybody quit using these services it would be different, but I just don't see Americans giving that big a crap for the environment over personal convenience.
$5.40 is better in my pocket than the investors of Walmart.
8/10 because you got serious responses, including mine! Well done!
