The real question is how bad is the "heat"? Forecast says 64F, 37F dew point for 6:55 AM start. Sunrise 7:03. By 9 AM, 71F and 38F dew point.

I'm working on a doc now where he specifically mentions he's not good in any type of warm conditions and can't remember ever having one good summer season of racing. This is coming from an interview conducted in late January.

He might. Good thing its only going to be in the 60s for the LA marathon. If he performs poorly it will be due to his fitness, not insufficient heat training.

He just texted stating that he doesn't mind heat or cold.

London 2007 was warm, sunny and humid, he ran well then.

The earlier start will help. Not knowing the course, if they run towards the ocean for the finish it will be cooler vs running towards downtown, its always hotter inland. Hall is smart he will know to slow down and pace. The wild card will be if you have a great hot weather athlete that likes the heat in the field.

I don't think many people prefer running in the heat. Either way, he still seemed to do well enough in the heat getting 10th place in the Olympics at a muggy 84F.

It was hot as hell when Hall ran his North American RECORD in the half marathon in Houston. Again, didn't seem to affect him.

It wasn't more than 60degrees by the time Ryan finished the half in Houston that day.

I truly love when exaggerated weather posts get debunked. It's the best.

Obviously, that's a bit muggy, and a record performance was amazing, but to call it oppressive or hot as hell is insane.

Not sure if the race started at 10 am like it does now but if so it was 60 at the start, 70 at the finish (12 noon).

Thought I'd share with you guys what he said when I asked about whether he likes running in the heat.

I remember Hall saying he wouldn't have won Boston 2012 even though it was a relatively slow winning time because he doesn't run well in the heat.

Rojo, the race starts at 7am. 65 degrees and dry. That's not hot.
