Yawn, he's from Oregon so he's doping.
Next please
Not an Oregon fan, but I'm super impressed. 3 guys at 13.45, and 3 guys sub 7.55. That's amazing.

I'm not impressed, or unimpressed for that matter. It's no secret - they recruit tons of fast runners, and lots of fast runners want to go to U of Oregon. It's not like they are turning high school failures into studs. They just have a lot of fast people on the team. Being impressed by them is like if you were to get all of the MLB all-star team on one team the next season, and then being impressed when they won a bunch of games.
Probably few teams could boast this and although not turning out studs left and right on the pro scene, they have a fair share of them currently. Colorado maybe able to although they have not always done it on the track where Oregon tends to excell.
I'm not impressed by a college time that is barely faster than the high school record.
10 seconds faster would be notable, and 20 seconds faster would be noteworthy.

Alan Webb ran a 3:53 in hs. Is McGorty's sub 4 at UW not notable? Just because the high school record is faster, doesn't mean that the time isn't bad for a collegiate athlete.
So he beat the Lord, a Parrish and a King all in the space of 8 minutes. Not bad.
Gotta give 'em credit. They showed up this weekend!
Success isn't measured by seconds of improvement. Athletes don't get to Oregon if they already had easy potential to gain. Most of the guys that get there already have been training at a very high level and are working on small levels of improvement.
It's unreasonable to expect lots of diamonds in the rough, because everyone's already fine tuned.

The HS record for 3k is 7:59? Idiot.

Wouldn't Lukas have gone through around 7:54? It's not the official record, but still...

So 20 seconds. 7:29. He'd have to run 1 second faster than Rupp's AR just for it to be considered noteworthy? Alright, high standards man.

Right on.
Yes the Ducks were impressive. Let's not forget they had three at under 4:05 in the mile race, and two of them at 4:00 and 4:01.

Why is a Kenyan running 7:49 remotely noteworthy?
I believe Webb's 3:53 was the fastest time for any American that year.
Great interview with Steve Cram - says Jakob has no chance of WRs this year
