Hi guys, I'm in a bit of a self crisis right now. So I am a 400/200/800 runner and last year, my Junior year of high school, my times in all those events spiked. I went from a 53 second 400 to a 49.2, and about the same thing with the other 2 events. Over the summer I would train very lightly about 3 days a week, mainly working on my running form, block starts, etc. We did some running, but nothing that really pushed my body to work hard. Anyway I registered for a meet to run the 400 without having ran a 400 in maybe 2-3 months and I ended up running a 49.7 which was only .5 off of my PR. I was really shocked at pleased with how I did. But my senior year rolls around and its XC season, and I join the XC season for the 3rd year in a row and I basically ran 19-20 minute 5ks all season. I did XC just to stay in shape. AND NOW MY PROBLEM... track season has rolled around finally and for whatever reason I am just really out of shape... We had a workout today of 600, 400, 300, 200.. relativity easy and after running a 1:59 600 my 400 was a 59 second and I was just about dead afterwards. Before track season started I took probably a 3 week break from running, and after the 3 weeks I jogged 30 minutes 4 days a week and lifted weights 4 days a week.
So basically what I want to ask is, have I over worked my body, or am I just experiencing a normal loss in conditioning from not having sprinted in a while?
