Hello. I have been running all base work so far this winter with a few tempo runs and the majority of the runs at 6:45 pace. My goals for this year in track are sub 10:00 3200 and 4:40 1600. I am anxious about when to start speed work and get out of base phase. I was thinking about doing a tempo run, Fartlek, and track workout from now until March and then add more speed work instead of the Fartlek. Is it too early to start speed work or should I continue doing only easy runs?What kind of workouts should I be doing now and at what pace? When should start them? I don't want to start too early or too late. Can you give me some workouts for when track season starts to achieve my goals? Thank you.
