the 2000 "doctor" approved TUEs have allowed slower runners to outperform. you have to know which special "doctors" will prescribe what you "need" to be the best that you can be.
Looks like there was a substantial crosswind as well. Gotta be worth sub-44 in a modern arena.
what are you talking about

I just checked all the 400m results. With the possible exception of 1988, at least one of them would have won a medal of some colour at every olympic games since 1960. This is amazing.
and the others in that race werent far behind
now we know were michael johnson got his upright technique from
" on the 6th September 1960 the athletics champion together with the American sprinter, Otis Davis, smashed the 400 metres world-record despite the wet conditions. They were the first sprinters to run the 400m in under 45 seconds. In a photo-finish Carl Kaufmann lunged towards the finishing-line, missing the Gold Medal by the narrowest of margins. According to the newly introduced electronic timing-equipment, Otis ran the 400m in 44.91 seconds, Kaufmann in 44.93 seconds"

are you ignorant? yes, you are.
he is saying that today's drugs are better than yesterday's drugs. these days, a doctor can prescribe something you that helps you that you don't really need.
you should call yourself best dope not better dope
how the hell did you conclude that?
But you are not factoring in track inflation. 400 meters today was like 380 back in 1960.
i'm pretty sure 44.93 is wrong
it's usually listed as 45.07
the 1st auto < 45 was 45.08 for mottley winning gold in kingston '66 over 440y which was converted to 44.82 !!!
larrabee's '64 gold when beating wendall is listed as 45.15
haha i like that
thanks vent
i just saw that when i checked here
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Men%27s_400_metres_world_record_progression
just how fast were these guys? and kaufmann too as a white guy running 44,9/45.08 = gold in moscow and other olympics too
the thing is the field was not that far behind.
That was 440 yards
Ummm...44.9 is a LONG way from 38.6.
Just saying
Adolph Plummer ran 44.9 for 440y in 1963. No auto timing, but it would certainly be under 45.00 for 400m
Interesting article on the "first sub-45"
Old timers. Don't forget '60 German HH'er, Martin Lauer who ran under 13.2 on cinders, or 100 meter champ, Armin Hary.

You are ignorant if you think yesterday's drugs aren't still the most effective PED's out there. They just happen to be the most easily detectable too.
And anyone who doesn't know they were legal in competition in 1960 has no business discussing the subject at all.
who says i think that
