Regardless of the decision, people will riot. Rioting is a way to get free goods from stores, and have fun breaking windows to gain access to those goods.

Actually during the la riots after Rodney King, some white alternative rock stars from the area joined in on the fun. they were wild underground individualists with drug proclivities. Have times changed so much that we won't see contemporary musicians and celebrities of various races join in on any ferguson frenzies? Btw I'm not condoning anything here, just offering facts and discussion considerations. Maybe even some distance runners with connections to the region will make cameos.

Hands up... please, leave the store with only those items you've legally purchased.

It really is sad that the president of the US and the Attorney General have fanned the flames of racial animus throughout this whole episode. The thug life scumbags won't be happy unless the police is lynched and the rest of the mob will want to loot, steal, and break things. This whole situation so undermines civil society. The behavior of these thugs and the president and AG included is a disservice to the incredible sufferings of real victims of racism, those who were slaves, who suffered under Jim Crow laws, who had to drink from black only water fountains. Harriet Tubman, and W. E. Dubois, and thousands and thousands of great African Americans who truly did struggle, and truly did suffer are being terribly dishonored by lumping them in with these human scum and vipers. Michael Brown was a thug. He lived like a thug. He died like a thug and the fact that people are planning to riot because justice is being served and it's not what they want is disgusting...

I hate that my thread gave bigots a chance to express their racism.

However, I also hate law breakers. Where are the black leaders condemning those who take to the street to riot. The police need to come down very strong on this.

It IS a slightly better reason to riot than your favorite sports team winning (or losing) some silly game.

That said...they are just a bunch of low lifes looking to take advantage of an opportunity. Nothing more.

Yes there has been MUCH irresponsibility and lack of leadership. Rioters should be condemned by leaders.

Concern for all the innocence people who may be injured has not been clearly expressed by all. The community should rise proactively to defend the innocent and demand that their city remain peaceful.

I don't see righteous condemnation for those who plan to disrupt the life of peaceful innocents.

Best post on this thread so far. Right up to the point where you said Michael Brown died like a thug. Maybe so, but that's what the grand jury is for. From all the information I've heard, you are probably right, but we have a jury system for a reason, and it usually works as it should. For most Americans, that's enough. But some people will always want their own "justice," and they'll take every opportunity to play the victims and justify outrageous behavior. And these people hurt their own communities and make others of their own race, ethnicity, etc. look bad.
