The Big 10 is weak this year. No team in the top 6 at NCAA's and probably only 2 in the top 12.

Yeah I was told by a coach at Heps yesterday that she was injured and would not be running, but i wasn't allowed to post it. I believe she's done for the year...
Not sure if it's a stress fracture or not.
Sad to see. The dream of the all michigan squad winning it is officially gone.
there was a thread here yesterday/two days ago posting about an injury - not sure where it went
anyways, nationals just got a lot less interesting on the women's side

Schrobilgen defends (has chance to do a four-peat), walk-on VanVoorhis second (is this the best finish for a pure walk-on, did not even run on the team until part-way in his soph year).
Wisconsin go 1, 2, 14, 16, 18, 20
Wisconsin 47
Michigan 77
Penn State 92
Indiana 95
VanVoorhis probably in second is the best finish for a pure walk-on who was never recruited in the last 40 years or more.
The only one I can recall possibly doing that is Paul Gisselquist from Minnesota who placed 2nd in 1986.
Looking ahead though, Wisconsin is very young with a lot of talent. They could go back to back 2016-2017.

Actually i would say Nationals for the women still will be up for grabs. Michigan State is the clear favorite but some interesting things happened this weekend at the conference meets. 1. Iowa State is definitely for real and a serious contender, especially if Bethanie Brown comes back (possible) 2. Oregon had Waverly Neer run this weekend. They probably need both Baxter and Neer to run to challenge the Spartans. Still, adding Neer will help the Ducks. 3. Samantha Nadel ran for Georgetown. That's big for them and might possibly give them another low stick to go with Coogan. 4. Arkansas still looks tough.
Can anybody explain how poor THE Ohio state university men ran today and how bad they are now? Some talented kids are bad.
What happened to Purdue? Wasn't Dalton a Footlocker finalist? They have some good guys there. Mcclintock ran well. The other guys ran like crap.
Rutgers still think going to the big 10 was a good idea?
Maryland women doing XC, but not the men? Total BS. Terps might have kept the Rutgers' men from finishing last.
Penn State got some nice scalps for a possible at-large bid

I didn't think Ohio State would get 10th. 6th or 7th in that conference with their talent would be expected. They bombed.
It seems people always have more expectations for Ohio State but they lack a tradition. Those freshman and sophomores at Wisconsin, Indiana, and Michigan go into that meet with that.

The first 4 finishers ran under the old course record, set by Simon Bairu.
Pretty weak.

I was looking forward to see how she did.
If you don't like the results, don't read them.

The season ended with Jerry Schumacher's jock on Mark Wetmore's office wall (still there, probably). The Badgers had some really good talent in those days.

Then you have not paid attention to the possibilities for Iowa State. as dl13 said, they looked stellar and Brown on AA is not yet in the mix - if she can run well they are very good at the top (maybe first) and quite good at 4/5. I think that Michigan State's chances are actually a little lower after seeing the results this weekend, even with O'Connor running a great race to show she can run with Schulist.
Based on these results, it's pretty obvious Wisconsin lacked a 5th man. Then throw in a bad race from one of their top 4, and they had no chance at winning the NCAA title. Jerry Schumacher was a great recruiter, but had trouble with getting the whole team to race well at NCAAs ( minus 2005)

Hahaha, this is hilarious. How did that team not win the NCAA championship that year. They were sick on paper with a whole bunch of sub 13:50 and 29:00 10Kers.
