wow! I really really like that quote, did you come up with it yourself.... I am tempted to copy it down into my training log, matter of fact I think I will :O)

I've tried remembering a lot of those inspirational sayings, and they don't help when the pain gets REALLY bad. I recently ran my best race in 8 years because of what I saw while cheering for my team at a meet. At the three mile mark the Tennessee girls came by and every one of them looked like death warmed over. They were all running as hard as they possibly could go. Then our girls came by. The top 4 looked like they were doing a tempo run, and the next 3 looked like it was a recevery day. I've always believed that knowing you didn't give it your all is the worst feeling no matter what time you run, but seeing that race really drilled it into my head. I wanted to be like Tennessee's girls, not like my team (and many other teams in the field besides mine, including other ranked teams). Keeping that image in my head in my last race helped me push harder than I ever have before.
Some things I've heard a thousand times and this is one of them. Of course it makes me laugh every time. Thanks.
I am inspired after I take a good dump.
to wipe your ass I hope
I always think that if I'm tired or it's just to cold or hot to go out and run that there is always someone else out there who is committed and motivated enough to get out there and get better so if I don't they will beat me so I better run one more interval or wear and extra longsleeve...If you don't get out there someone else will and then you are beaten before you even start to race.
A good random cranking song sometimes gets me pumped.
Vigil told his Adams State guys to bleed green and gold on race day. Literally be prepared to bleed a little. Get psyched to take the pain and do it. Of course after training your ass off for a few months.
I think being inspired by the fear of showing up to Nationals in sub-par shape would be sufficiently embarrassing to keep you training through the doldrums. This is the one time in your life you will be running college. Don't look back on it and tell yourself, I should have been able to do better.
Yes I loved it too and wrote it into my training log this morning, where did it come from? Would also like to know!
this is the best i've read on this site in a good while. Thanks Runner for a reason that was great-
Find the essence of why you run. Put it on a poster with your overall goal and post it next to your bed. Each morning make it the first thing you look at. Each night make a check mark on it if you did something that got you closer to your goal.
big D's inspire me
Hey guys, thanks for the kind words. I hope that quote provided some inspiration that you will take with you when you approach running every day. Anyway, as to its origin, I wrote it a few months back after my state track meet, where I had an amazing spiritual/runners high in the last 200 meters of an 800. I've used it as my philosophy towards running ever since. Anyway, thanks again for the compliments, happy running and train hard!

My wife inspires me, if I didn't run I wouldn't be able to get the hell out of the house and away from her. Don't get me wrong I love my wife but she tends to drive me crazy.
I thought Winston Churchill said, "If you find yourself going through hell, keep going."

Naked women and the thought of sex. Better yet, schoolgirls in white socks or stockings.
Oh... you mean running inspiration. How about your numerous friends who are now Olympians while you are still a booze hound
Sarah:
Hey who do u run for? It seems you try hard, but your team does not cut it...we have all been there at times. Keep up the good work, and push those limits!!
Actually I do not run for a team so unattatched... I run for Adidas and Powerbar, and races of late have been solid, oh yes and I always try hard thanks for the reminder!
Interesting, so u run for a club then Sarah? Congrats I'm about done with collegiate running also and that's good to see you are still running races without a team. Good luck and also how far out of college are u if you are?
THANKS!
