Congrat Amy Hastings
In the 2014 Chicago Marathon, Amy Hastings finished 5th in 2:27:03.
Only a second behind 4th place. This matches her personal record.
She looked comfortable and used her pacer to get this great finish.

Disappointing as its the same time as her LA time , LA a much slower course , Chicago today was perfect weather , one of the fastest courses in the world , a step back performance vs forward.

I haven't been following her closely - but hasn't she had a rough last few years? I can't think of anything this fast she has run for a couple years. So getting back to top form is probably a big step for her.
But I could be wrong - maybe she has run well and I am unaware of it.
Good day for Brooks
Coach Rae Tracy must be happy for Amy.

She came back from injury before her Boston Marathon race in April 2014.
A great comeback story.

Nonsense , no comeback , 2012 she ran 31:10 10k , 2013 32:52 and a slow 2:42 at NYC , a little injury pulls her out of Boston and its a comeback ?
Going down to a 2:42, injury out of Boston (really?) , and back to a PB match is at least a little comeback. Today does put her back in the mix for the Oly Trials podium.
Don't call it a comeback.
Figured some jerkoff was going to post that and it might as well be me.
That puts her 6th USA on unaided courses and 10th all courses I think' Bumping Marla Runyan off the top 10 all course list.
What ever happened to 2:26:20 marathoner Desiree Linden?
Yeah 2016 Olympic team- Shalane, Amy Hastings, Desi if all stay healthy.
Deena= too old,
Kara= no heart, just running for money at this point,
Lisa Uhl= Just ran 2:41, she sucks
If not a comeback, it's a huge result and a huge improvement.
It also shows NYC 2013 was just a bad race. Kudos to her for not DNF'ing there.
This was an Olympic contention result. NYC 2013 showed no sign of that.
Congrats are in order.
comeback means you are fast, you go slow or don't run, then you run fast again.
Nice comeback from Hastings. 2:27 down to 2:42 and back to 2:27.
I am a big Amy Hastings fan but will she run in Rio 2016? She can win the trials but will she get pregnant soon? I know she wants kids one day. But she would still be young after Rio, 32.5 yrs.
She has a great chance to medal.

She has a great chance to medal? No. If Shalane can only get 10th, Amy Hastings will probably be 15th-20th

Amy is a great racer. Her times are not as fast but she does well against competition. 5th at Chicago is great and she was competitive for most of the race. The Olympics are rarely fast, all she needs to do is run normal to do well. It seems like the favorites never finish, like last time when the whole ethiopian team dropped out.

Desiree and Kara are running NYC Marathon.
This looks like a pretty good result for Hastings given a rough start to her year. If she can stay healthy she's probably a favorite to make the 2016 Olympic team, though Shalane is the only one who looks like a lock at this point.

I guess if you look at 2013, it is good result, but with Hastings PRs, a 2:27 on a fast course is just ok.
Hastings I is a front runner, so to say, for the three Olympic marathon spots.
