How Did The American Men Run In Chicago?

Thinking about running around the course watching the leaders. Looks to me like the race could easily be viewed at 1-3-13-17-20-25+ (actually without much running)
Start out the race at 1, run over to 3 before the leaders get there to get on the inside of the course, walk over to 13.1, walk to 17 then 20, jog back to Roosevelt road to catch them at 26.
Any other advice to watching the race on the course?

You have it planned excellent.
You could possibly go to the 10 mile point where Joe Tirrito impersonates Elvis. That is always worth seeing.
Maybe go to one of the desolate areas around mile 20 1/2 or mile 23 to be as close as possible to the passing runners.
With a bicycle you could have way more time and not even break a sweat.
I've watched several Chicago marathons (more supporting joggers, but I'm a big marathon fan as well). It can be a lot of fun, but be prepared for crazy weather.
