WTF, why doesn't Nike just drop this underachiever.

That was kinda hard to watch, she's only what 26? And has given up on running competitively.
Maybe she's just trying to qualify for the Olympic Marathon trials at this point.
did she get injured?
she's 27 and has 14:55 and 31:12 prs

she said in the interview, that back when she ran her PRs she was in a "different place then" and she made it sound like either she's just not fit, or she just doesn't care to be a top elite anymore. That's fine, people grow up and their priorities and passions change.

gotcha. But she's still doing 90-100 mpw, so she's doing the work.
Maybe she meant she just had a magical season at the time and is trying to play catch up.
Beautiful woman. Very articulate. Two questions:
- Why not name the dude helping you out? It would be nice if the "unsung hero" got a shout out.
- Where can I send the camera man a tripod? Seriously, I'll buy it and ship it if he promises to use it.
Nice interview. Sounds great to me.

PEDs = "in a different place
Why is it that is a foreigner runs fast times, everyone assumes drugs.
If a hot, American girl runs fast, she's a hard worker.
She didn't look "race fit", maybe a different place includes some buffet lines.
She left Portland and at the time, left training with Kara and Shalane...I don't understand why Nike is still a sponsor at this point. Seems a company like Osielle
she is absolutely adorable
Wow. She's hot.
She never looks super lean. I would say her priorities have changed. Her priorities changed when she left vet school. She is one of those runners who needs something else. If she got back in school she might start running fast again.
She wasn't super lean when she ran sub-15 either...
It is her marathon debut and she is not in her best shape. 2:37 is a reasonable goal.
Where she's been means that she could only stick 5:55 pace for 7M in June and so she didn't think it was possible to do much better than 6 flat pace for a marathon in October. She's had multiple injury problems the past few years. It's a shame, because around the time she left college, with a 14:55/31:12, she seemed to have every chance to run American records on the track and be shooting for a 2:20 by 2016.
That's just ridiculous. She's probably the most straight-laced, by-the-books runner I've ever known.
To be fair, Lisa knocked the ball out of the park in 2010. 2011 was a wash, complete with stress fracture, plantar issues, and a lengthy break. Momentum killer. 2012 was a step back in the right direction.
2013 was rough for her. The transition, minor hiccups, and other frustrations got in the way.
I think everyone is being a little too hard on her. She will make it back. I think her priority is getting a 2:35-ish, controlled effort in, and then moving forward.
Everybody can't have Shalane's genetics, 2:21, 140mpw, and has Shalane ever been injured? I don't think so.
