people are people no matter where they live.

Californians are nicer than Oregonians by a long shot.
I think by industrial town, a lot of us just meant a "working class" town just as you yourself put it. It's not a tourist attraction and if you want the beauty of oregon, this isn't really the place to go. Also, Eugene has more stuff about Pre in it then Coos Bay. It's worth going there just to say you were there, but that's about it.
Where do you live in California or what part of Cali are you comparing Oregon to..??
How cold does it get in the winter and how hot in summer? avg
it's the greatest place in the world
Funny how you get such a wide range of views on a city or area, I guess you just have to go see for yourself
Are there many races and is there a strong running club..??..doesnt have to be a big club just dedicated..
it aint a logging town anymore. no logs. it aint a fishing town anymore. no fish. it's a town. it never was an industrial town. industrial town? it aint f***in pittsburgh.
beaches. nice cliffs and beaches. beer too. Hams in the can for 75 Cents. Full Sail can't do that

I'm pretty sure you haven't been to Pittsburgh in the past 15 years, because it's a beatiful city with great people. And its more corporate than industrial these days.
Coos Bay is the home of Steve Prefontaine. I just returned from watching over a 1000 people do the Pre 10K over Pre's training run course, held every Sept. We have 40 miles of beaches to run on as well. Lots of runners make pilgrimages to Coos Bay to run where Pre ran.

Heh. Yes, somebody resurrected a zombie thread from 2004.
Fun fact, you can see Prefontaine's grave marker on google earth.
For those of you too lazy to make the pilgrimage.

They filmed some movies there.
There are lots of seagulls there, they're flying rats.
Some old fan-geezer said he never saw Pre running downhill, so I assume it's all flat or uphill.
