I voted against you as I think this sort of shameless begging for votes to reveal your lack of dignity. Also, you admit to deliberate pandering to your audience. It is clear that you have no soul and I pretty much hate you.

NYC doesn't want to hear ANYTHING about the Boston Marathon... so you don't get my vote.
How is this any different than any other race where people try to Boston Qualify? I want to break 3 hours, is that better?

How else am I supposed to get votes? I put it on social media and this forum where running is the main topic. All I was saying is most people outside of lets run don't care how many miles per week you run or what times you run. The fact that I have now raised over $3,000 for a good charity means a lot more to them. I may not have a soul according to you but anyone who has ever seen me race knows that I have plenty of heart as I'm not nearly as talented as many other fast runners but I train hard and hold my own.

Your gal Caroline had a great US Open - any progress on getting her to run with you?
Yeah OP,thanks for the update later in this thread. Screw the billboard. I am interested in what transpires with tennis gal(hope goes well). Keep us updated when something happens.

You are welcome and will do. I was thinking winning this contest could help things like dkny64 states. I'm also now over $3,000 raised for the charity which could also help. I'll be sure to let you know what transpires with the Wozniacki story. Thanks for your interest in the story.
Man, are you a creep.
I hope her security stays close to her.

Again, not really sure how anything I did was creepy. Trying to make something exciting and positive happen in life while raising a nice amount for charity is creepy? One person cited the no shirt for the contest as an example and I get that but most summer races I don't wear a shirt, guess I could've used an older race pic.
I really don't get the negativity here, so many people on the board always complain about how participants always win awards/contests and here I am a serious runner trying to win and all I mostly get are negative comments. With this attitude some 5 hour finisher will win the billboard contest and then you all will complain about how an out of shape finisher won a times square billboard contest. Guess I really can't win here.
No one here would care if a 5 hour marathoner won this marathoner contest because no one here, save you, cares about the contest to begin with. Actually, probably no one here would have even heard of the billboard contest.
And why are you putting down the 5 hour marathoner?
Maybe Meb should complain if you get on the billboard because you are some 3:10 hobby jogger whereas he is a 2:08 former NYC champ. Meb wouldn't do that though because he is not a jerk like you.
Count one more vote for anyone other than you.
no vote from. the mild D1 snobbery was what finally made my decision to not support this. the shirtless picture didn't help either.
I didnt vote against you though so good luck.
Sorry, I voted for the Aztec guy.

I have no problem with the 5 hour marathoner and consistently give other runners advice on how to improve. I was just stating how the theme on this website always complains about them.
As for the D1 thing, I was just trying to demonstrate how I am very untalented but I worked hard and scraped my way onto a lower D1 team. I overcame lesser natural talent and made the most of the situation, most entrants have some kind of story some more serious than others.
Basically whatever I wrote would be criticized I see, I realize I'm not going to get much support on this forum but hey at least I tried. For the record if I saw someone give this kind of effort and passion about something I'd vote for them but maybe I'm in the minority.
Reg, first you need a thicker skin.
Second, some of the anonymous a-holes commenting here need to realize they are bordering on bullying.
Third, not everyone here is an a-hole.
I think what you are doing is cool especially raising money for charity. You deserve votes.

Fair point on the thicker skin, it just gets a bit tough when most comments are pretty nasty.
Thanks for the feedback portland_runner30000, I knew I'd get some negative comments when I posted this thread but was also hoping for some votes, so far that hasn't been happening. There are actually enough posters on this site alone to put me near the lead.
As for the charity, thanks, I'm trying to do what I can. Anyone that still wants to donate that would be appreciate also, even if its $5 or $10 it all adds up and helps a great cause.
